there is an issue with this game

this would be a fantastic game, if the jump action ACTUALLY WORKED
90% of the time, i hit jump, and nothing happens, because of this, i wont play this game anymore. i've tried all 3 jump buttons and none of them are reliable enought to enjoy this game.

I don't understand the hype about this game..

Okay, before people start thinking that I'm going to be an asswipe for not agreeing with everyone else about how good this game is, I'd like to make out my opinions as to what I see in this game so far..

Firstly, I've noticed that the graphics are nice and retro. I have observed a few breaks of the repetition, but only a FEW. Yeah, I'll admit that, but it still does not win my satisfaction. Things still get pretty repetitive after even a few seconds..

Secondly, the music was alright, but not really my kind of thing. I don't know how to give concrete words as to why, but that's just how I'm "feeling" about the music.

Thirdly, the gameplay was boring. Why? There was a lack of freedom of movement, (i.e. you could only have voluntary control of jumping.. big wow..), there are no highscores, and basically all that you would do is run forward, jump, forward, jump. Why couldn't there be some more things to throw in to lessen the repetition (e.g. upgrades, some baddies to kill, swimming, climbing, dodging [like bullets... perhaps? After all, it says you're making some sort of "escape"..]?)

Lastly, I'll make this point direct: no plot. Enough said. (..but good gameplay overall would totally win my opinion regardless..)

I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE MUST HAVE BEEN TREMENDOUS EFFORT THAT HAS BEEN PUT INTO MAKING THIS GAME, BUT THIS GAME JUST DOESN'T COME UP WITH THE GOODS. IT'S NOT LIKE I'M GIVING THIS SCORE OUT OF BAD TASTE OR LACK OF REASONABLE CRITICISM.

Didn't like it. You build up too much speed too soon, and the obstacles actually become useful for slowing yourself down and making the jumps easier. Also there isn't really any back story (what's that stuff in the background?), and I wish you could slow down your character's throttle manually.

This is one of those games that seem like they were made in an afternoon. Why not make a Canabalt 2? Your game is pretty popular after all and it seems like you have a lot of things you could improve upon. New features, new levels, back story, upgrades, game balance, etc. This is only seems like the first step on the road to perfection.

It's been a few years now though and I don't expect a sequel. Good luck with your future made-in-12-hour games that are hollow and unappealing.
