Zero challenge, but quite enjoyable
The first thing I thought of when I began playing this was that this would be PERFECT as a stand up arcade machine. It's graphically appealing, the music sets an appropriate mood of excitement and tension and the gameplay is fast and furious. However, I soon realized that as an arcade cabinet this would go broke...I found a way so that you never take damage let alone die. If you park both robots as far down as you can you can spray bullets back and forth toward the area where the enemies appear. They can't get past the top of the screen and the cannons build up energy VERY fast this way. In doing so you can have the cannons blasting away constantly. At one point I was able to fire all four cannons off FOUR times before they ever finished firing since their energy would fill up before the beam disappeared. I finally realized on wave 27 that it just wouldn't ever end, so I just stopped firing all weapons and killed myself. I ended with a combo of 8413, 424 cannon uses, and both robots were at level 16 giving me a total score of 731,980,802. Without a story or any real sense of accomplishment, I don't really feel all that special about 730 million points. Oh and by the way, you should put the level/score information that's at the top of the screen in the foreground. It was blocked by the enemy blood splatters for 90% of the game. All in all, despite the flawed gameplay, this game delivered in the area that matters most in a game: it was still fun as hell. 4/5, 8/10
