Reviews for "Shape Defence"

Really well done

You, Stu Cooke (51lver) have made a masterpiece although it can be improved by having a completable mode, achivements and a wider range of enemys. I look forward top seeing Shape defense 2, or maybe there wont be one. Up to you.

Incredible game

Have to say though, the music makes it incredibly fun and makes you feel as if you could lose or win at a moment's whim as well, excellent. The game itself is still pretty fun though, I guess the only thing really missing is the ability to move and medals and it would be a perfect game that would be greatly addicting and fun. I guess a high score mode would also be nice to have as well.

The background was real simple and nice. The animation of the shapes having symbols on them was cool as well, at least they don't shoot at you which is nice and saves you a bit of health when you decide to upgrade as well. Very good shooter though.

The shooting of other shapes at first is rather tedious and you feel slow on some of the earlier levels but once you buy a bit of health and start stocking up for better weapons with higher power then the game begins to get a tad bit easier for you as you go along though. The bombs come in real handy when there are too many shapes closing in quickly as well.

The weapons are nice and I think my favorite was possibly the cluster gun since that thing pretty much wiped almost everything out within seconds of firing it too, awesome. Really good game though. I think if you considered adding medals and a high score system then this could be a perfectly fun and highly addicting little shooter game.

Overall, great game, just add some medals.

Thank you very much for this thorough review! I'm glad you liked the music, I've had a few people tell me it fitted well :) The cluster gun was always my favourite when I was playing it too! In my upcoming game (also a shooter) I'm going to have medals in it, hopefully making it a bit more fun, giving the player a goal to aim for. There are highscores built in, unless you mean a completely different game mode with a separate challenge

Music By WaterFlame = Win

Love the look and functionality of everything in this submission, The Sound effects are badass, and the music... well the music was perfect; IMO completely creates a fast-paced Monster-of-a-game!
Basically "Asteroids 2011"

I cannot wait to see more work from you in the future sir! :D

The music won me over, as soon as I heard it I knew it had to be in the game!
Thank you very much for this great review, I'll keep you posted on any future stuff I produce :)

Rather addictive

Well, this game has all of the things required to make a very good little defence game out of it - the setting is decent enough, the graphics and concept are nice looking, if slightly unoriginal. The music is well chosen and applied, while everything seems to fit together well.

I particularly like the bloodstains that you splatter across the battlefield, when you hit an enemy. While I'd have preferred to be shooting things that look like something advancing towards a position on the battlefield, we have to work with what we're given. Shapes remind me of something akin to markers on a WWII battlefield map, where the controllers move the pieces so we can see who is doing what, without leaving the security of the War Office in Whitehall. Walkers, runners, heavy ordinance and the like could have been used instead - this could give a different dynamic of having things that need to close to a certain range, before opening fire on the position. Obviously, this could lead to snipers, who almost always hit, while some troops get very close and hit you 1 in 6 tries, for example.

Certainly worthy of stealing a morning from me, but there's room to take this game further. I'd love to see new versions of this game spring up. Let me know and I'll review them as well.
