Superior in most ways
Although the game is basic in nature, this approach is very fresh. The graphics are great and the physics are very well done. The option of aiming down the sights is also a new game option that is appreciated.
The weapons types are phenomenal. I did not get to purchase all of them, but I found the ones I wanted and went for it and have to say they feel authentic in shooting, accuracy and reloading.
There were some drawbacks to the game:
- saving money for the gun you want gets difficult as your wall decreases rapidly and costs quite a lot to repair every round (and you will be repairing every single time); this adds a challenge, but can get exhausting and frustrating when you miss the weapon by a couple of dollars and die the next round.
- dying: this is almost always a draw-back, but in this game it is particularly upsetting: you will have to restart the entire game if you die. Others had a problem with this as well since there is no level select or autosave feature. An option to restart the last level would be appreciated because...
- this game does get difficult quickly. soldiers. then more soldiers. then soldiers with cannons. then all of a sudden it's one gun versus soldiers, cannons, jeeps and more brought in the same level.
I played the game a couple of times and have gotten to level 13 twice. Beyond that, I have not been able to keep up with it.
Maybe it is because I am playing on a laptop (I miss a mouse so much!).
An easy button would be nice. Like having starting or buying grenades to throw when overpowered.
The game is great and a perfect option for time well spent (not at all a "play this when you are bored to pass the time game" but a real game worth playing and revisiting) however due to the small set backs and little flaws, I gave the game a 4/5, 7/10 rating.
