Reviews for "The Evolving Stick Fight"

could've been...

much better. though there is room for improvement all across the board (music, animation, drawings, etc) the most glaring problem is the action scripted itself. though it's title as an "evolving stick fight", there is more flying around by the characters than actual fighting. try keeping it simple next time.

Lord1Mauler responds:

This is simple. I agree, not enough fighting, but look at author comments. Says I moved the background before I moved the characters. Hard to make them fight when the bg is moving, isn't it? It's a new style, some like it, some hate it or dislike it lol.

Thnx for your review.

not bad. In fact...I like it!

The idea of another stick fight is cliche,
The voice acting is horrible,
Theres no play button so I had to sit and wait for the movie to play.

Come to think of it the animation was the only thing I liked, it was nicely done and had a good flow to it and it was a pretty long flash too.
One more thing you did that other newbie flashmakers dont do is actually fucking TRY and I'm proud cause thats something you actually did, so not good not bad just put in a play button and it'll stand alright

Lord1Mauler responds:

Right on dude. I haven't learned how to do the play button, I looked on YouTube, but it's not working. I'll find out eventually. I'm working on ActionScript 3.0 for Flash CS3. Do you know how to make buttons on that? If you can tell me and it works, I'll put you in the credits. The only reason I try is because I "had" tons of time, I'm older than the other noobs, and I didn't want anything way way beyond random lol. HellHound-IX gave me the simple story, I created the diverse animations. Did you like the music?

Thnx for the review.

Jeez man 2 months of work wasted

I really like how fluid and clean the animations are, but the music sucks, like it legit kills it.

this coule be really intense and instead it just is kinda lame...

Lord1Mauler responds:

Well, I like the music, and it fits to what emotion I wanted to create-a fast paced action. It's hard to interpret, but I liked it more than the "Top" selections in audio portal. Crosswinds has talent, and I would like his work on my flashes. If you have a problem with that-too bad. My animations are not fluid, they are choppy. It sounds like you're trying to diss the composers.

it was substandard

Please devote more time to your flashes. The characters should be better drawn, as the entire movie involves them. The background could have been better as well. I'm not trying to discourage you, but I'm almost sure you could have done better on this

Lord1Mauler responds:

ouch lol. Um look at the author comments. It was supposed to be a scribbly sloppy mess-it's a new form of art (in my style anyways). The characters were bad because they were stick's. Realize that everyone of those scribbled movements for the characters were separate frames-not copy and pasted. I don't mind you giving me a 3, I strongly encourage criticism, but keep in mind how much work I did to create this.

Thnx.

At least it moves

The real evolution should have been in the actual movie. It's amateur at best and there's no real "fighting" just some pointless chasing and stiff animation.
The voice acting is bad, too.

Lord1Mauler responds:

I know I would get a response like this-if you read the "author comments," you might understand why there wasn't much fighting. I moved the background first, and then I moved the characters on the background while it was locked. It's supposed to look sloppy if that's what you meant by "amateur." As for the voice acting... yea lol. I only have garageband-I do the best that I can. I was also experimenting in the voices I used. I changed some of the original voices of the Evolving stick because the pitch was way way too low.

Thnx for your review!
