Reviews for "A Foothold Spirit"

Excellent departure

Why this song has anything less than 4/5 and 9/10 score is beyond me. I think this is an excellent departure from the usual hyperactive Japanese techno junk that washes up on the Audio Portal's shores. If songs like this were front-paged, I would take the portal more seriously. 5/5, 10/10, faved
P.S. I found this using the NGAP radio.

that is not an oboe

There is no identifiable "reed" sound whatsoever. Consulting with a friend of mine who has a masters in music - she confirmed the same thing. It's a muted trumpet followed by a clarinet. Even the very vibrato that makes its way in at the very end of the piece is never what you would hear done by a wind instrument.

The "wah-wah" sound gives it away in an instant. Try to find any example of an oboe ever making a sound similar to that. Good luck, because reed instruments don't function like that.

Nice.

I like the swing of the music, reminds me of some fancy resturaunt in the 50's.
By the way, I sent you an e-mail regaurding Gethsemane. Did you get it?

i hate u

it must be flattering to hear that someone
hates u solely cuz of ur productions...
lol
Welcome to Newgrounds
and the oboe... sounds more like an english horn...
im pretty sure an oboe would have major problems
playing in a low register as played in this song..
cant wait to hear more from u

It was as difficult as hell for those notes to be played in such a low octave, and it took many takes, but I got a final perfect thing eventually.

Cafe Music

Yeah this is pretty much what I would hear in a cafe...But its an excellent song I would hear in a cafe ;). I really enjoyed hearing this song. Good job on it.
