Reviews for "The Scene Of the Crime"

Good game

I think this game has a glitch or something? I found every clue, used every clue, found everything, yet my case "solve" meter would never fill the last spot. I even used the walkthrough, watched it over and over, made sure I got every clue and looked at everything over and over. Sure I got everything. Yet when I click on the door it gives me a bad ending.

I think it may have something to do with the suitcase clue. At first when I open up the suitcase, I don't get a prompt saying "why would a kidnapping victim pack a suitcase," nor do I get any clue finding sound effect. I come back to it later and I get the message then. I'm guessing perhaps it glitched there and didn't count as finding a clue. So yeah, really annoyed about that. At least the walkthrough had the ending so I didn't have to replay the game.

And its kind of annoying if you walk out the door early thinking you have enough, just to lose and have start all over again. Why not just prevent you from leaving?

And yeah I agree with the other users that clicking the edges to move around is annoying. Arrows on the screen would be nice, or clicking the keyboard to move would be good too.

Some of the clues are just annoying and can be tedious to find. For example the bullet didn't have to be hidden so well imo. You can click on the TV, but you have to click the small spot beside the TV to search the whole TV area, kinda annoying.

But all in all, a pretty fun game. Hope to see more of these games.

nice

its really nice and easy with the walkthrough! 10/10 man!

Great artwork, not so great game

In terms of artwork and visual presentation, the game is unique, stylish, and atmospheric. However, as a game, it barely qualifies.

The click/try everything approach should be considered the antithesis of a good adventure/puzzle game. Granted, this is just a crime scene investigation game and naturally the process is tedious and requires a through examination of everything. There are multiple approaches, however, to break the monotony and make this more of a game than a click-fest.

One way would be to make the whole process of examining things more interesting. This is a murder committed by someone with a motive, so more of that could be revealed (humanize each piece of evidence more with lengthier descriptions, personal thoughts about the profile of the killer, etc).

Perhaps more visual clues could be presented to make finding things easier, but then the game would probably be even shorter than it already is. I love the style of the artwork, but the scene feels pretty static in spite of the background animations when clicking through masses of grey objects.

Also having to collect every last piece of evidence almost demands a walkthrough (fortunately provided). There should be multiple ways for the clever player to solve the game.

That said, I think the animation and artwork shows great potential, and with some improved gameplay, I think there's a chance for a really brilliant game to come along.

wow

okay but hard to find everything

Good game

I'm looking forward to a part 2
