Reviews for "epic brickout"

Nice work

Skuffter responds:

thanks bro

Great retake of a classic however it cotains error

Hi Skuffter

As you mention yourself, it contains some errors.

Aside from those you mention, there is also a problem that sometimes the ball will bouce upwards when hitting a brick from below.

I once did a similar game in java, and I think the problem is you remove the brick and change direction.
Either you didn't check for horizontal hits, or you remove the bricks in a problematic way, that couses it to revert direction twice.

In general, I think it is great to post a prototype to get help, but if you do not fix it you will learn little, as you learn most by correcting your errors.

looking forward for an update.

Bit broken

Just another breakout clone and pretty crap one actually. The mechanics are abit messed up with the ball going in slow-mo if hit correctly and the ball bouncing off blocks from beneath in strange ways :P not sure if it was serious but if so hope this helps.

Skuffter responds:

it wasn't anything serious really
I didn't really post this here to be revered for my pro action script skills, haha
thanks for reviewing though, I'll keep looking at it but we might be moving on to something new in class soon

Pretty good.

Well, I've always liked these kind of games, so that brought your score up a bit.

Anyways, I quite liked what you used here, for the paddle, ball, and bricks. A little more creative than normal, so nice job with that.

The music... well I couldn't really decide if I liked it or not. It was annoying, but cool at the same time. So I'm not so sure what to say about that part...

Also, (You probably already know) but it was quite glitchy :D I know this was probably a quick project, so I'm not too mad about it or anything (besides, it's a game, why should I be mad anyways?).

But overall, pretty nice job, just keep working with flash to get better and work out some the smaller things.

Skuffter responds:

thanks for the review, haha
we just had to incorporate the things on a checklist for points in the programming class, does the ball bounce off the wall, do the bricks disappear, etc

Unbroken and unremarkable

Doesn't have much to recommend it, but nothing against it, either. Just thought I'd let you know that hitting the ball on the edge of the bar makes it bounce upwards. It looks really strange.
