Very professionally done (as should be expected from the Whirled group). I had a ton of fun playing through this game. Through the beginning I was worrying that it would be far too easy. It didn't take long, however, for me to change my mind. The enemies, as simple as they were, kept me constantly moving and devising 'strategies' to destroy them.
The music was great, the graphics were lovely, and the steampunk theme never gets old with me. The upgrade system was nice too. Upgrades took a little while to unlock, which is good, and they didn't make you super powered or anything.
The only thing I would have liked to see more of was characters. The characters had a neat little opening sequence, but other than that, they don't have much going for them. I like the reoccuring old codger, but I would love to see more reoccuring characters. Perhaps have the main character interact with them.
Gameplay wise, everything seems great. It can get a little tiresome fighting the same enemies, but new enemies arise now and then to keep it interesting. The armored cannons annoyed me to no end though. The armor protects them from all sides but the back (which makes sense) but it's often difficult to get behind them while fighting so many other enemies. Even your silver bullet can't pierce their armor, as you would expect it to. Their cannon fire, however, can pierce through the entire stage, and often locks onto you before you're even aware that a cannon exists.
Just an annoyance of mine. It doesn't exactly make or break the game though.
All in all, wonderful game. Was much enjoyed.
