RAWowner333 responds:

1.we know it's short...
2.this was our tribute to portal. so yes, it is quite blantent. lol
3.like it says, this is our first game, so we were just trying to figure out the gist of actionscript.

thank you very much

thank you for the review

uh....

maybe its ecuase its 5 in the morning, but this scared the shit out of me.

great game

i loved every bit of it the female voice i sat to listen to all that she would say 1 time great job with that i do agree it was a bit short and it does remind me of portal glad u could get a bit of that game in this but death scenes didnt bring me in much that could have been better i kill my characters in every game to see how they did with it and theres a few other things i didnt like but cant place it but over all great try i give it a 10 and a 5 XD

by the way any free game creater programs u could suggest so i could try my hand at makeing a game for newgrounds?

Brilliant!

Ok, so I didn't know what to expect when starting this game but it was an awesome experience, although I beat it in less than 1.5 minutes.
I really loved the atmosphere you created, especially with the cruel, monotonic voice of the female robot.
My only comments would be to add better graphics, mostly for the death scenes, and perhaps make some of the rooms easier to differentiate from each other.
Other than that I'm sure you're aware of some of the obvious improvements that you're going to make in the sequel! (Can't wait!)
I gave you a 10/10 to cancel out some of the anal retentive reviews, because I like to be awesome like that ;D
Great job!

Try not to just look at the rating.. pls read it!

Well, it was a quick, simple, and (at times) fun game. On to the (hopefully helpful) criticism.
----
I felt that the main good points were:

-its setting within the atmosphere of a game I truly love
-and the timer gave you a sense of urgency.. = suspense

You did a pretty good job on Glados' voice/script too, but it got pretty annoying, even in the short time that I was playing for.

Even though I liked that it was, I didn't understand why it was in the universe of Portal.. It seemed to me that the doors/items/voice could be switched out for those of a haunted house, an abandoned warehouse, etc. and it would still keep the suspense without losing anything really critical to 'the story.'

..Perhaps you found a way to clone/create Glados' voice, and decided to use it in a Portal-based game, which required only a little effort? And, truly without any intention of offense, you say this is the result of 1 year+ post-beta? I know it was your first-flash, but I'm not sure I would blatantly advertise such a statement right on the page, even if you procrastinated for 11 of those months.

Alas, I can only speculate..

Point-and-click adventure games come and go through this.. er.. Flash 'portal'.. like the tides, and if you want to get noticed and/or followed, you really have to set yourself apart from the rest of the pack. Now, obviously you impressed Tom, and the front page will help your Flash career (congratulations on that, by the way), but the Newgrounds users are your main userbase and the expectations are pretty high on this site.

The best I can give the game is an average 50%, or 5/10.

For the future:

-try to tighten up the graphics - even if this is just a sort of micro-fanbased-game, people will notice the time and effort you put into making your game as polished as possible

-if you choose to do another Portal game, try adding other distinguishing features of the environment (ie. the Companion Cube, turrets, energy ball/capture point, and oh, I don't know, the PORTAL GUN..!? maybe? hehe)

-you are obviously aware of this already, but I would suggest definitely an increase in length for any sequel you make, along with more challenging puzzles (especially towards the end to achieve the difficulty curve of easy--hard)

I'm sure other reviewers will give you more help on different points than I mentioned, and although a low rating may sting at first, in the end, its all for the better.

There's really nowhere to go from here but up.

Again, congratulations on making the front page, and good luck on your future projects.

RAWowner333 responds:

thank you for that awesome review. this review, by far, has been the most helpful (sorry other guys).

As for why it's in the Portal universe, we were all caught up in Portal. We fell in love with it, and wanted to do a game dedicated, in a way, to it.

this is really our only "point and click" game. However, we may have to come back to this genre, we'll make sure to remember your review.

If we do decide to make a sequel, it most likely will have an introduction to the Portal gun. As for the length, I will make sure we have at least 15 chambers.

thank you very very much for the review. I hope you can review all our future projects.

A note from the artist:
I was NOT expecting such in-depth review from anyone ever and it stuns me that someone was generous enough to do so... Thank You SO MUCH and it was VERY useful and motivates us to work harder!
