Entertaining
This does indeed remind me of Zelda...Other than that, I have several things to talk about.
1. Glitchy. Especially in the Arena... The boss monster teleported into the statues, normals walked into the stone columns. I managed to hit the Ghost into the side wall, and it (she?) went off screen, where I couldn't attack. Granted, it couldn't hit me either, but that was annoying. In the normal dungeons, the Pig Wizards would teleport into walls, and I could hit others into the walls where I couldn't get them. It is understandable, seeing as this game is so massive, that you would miss some bugs.. It's no big deal. But it might be an easy fix.
Another was the hit system / calculator. There was a 'blind spot' on the Abobination (Abomination?) right in front and slightly to the right, where you can't hit him and he doesn't hit you.
2. Leveling. The Attack leveling was very useful... However, the Magic and Life leveling only seemed to refill the respective meter. Is that really all they do? That would make those skills ALMOST useless. I can see how you could still use them in boss fights, if you planned carefully. But, I can get a Band-Aid for the same effect. Some clarification would be nice there.
3. Upgrades. Getting all the upgrades was really enjoyable... If tedious. It's nice to equip the 3rd level sword and actually be able to tell that it's better. I never used the Ice Rod/Wand... Probably why I had so much trouble with the flies. I wasn't willing to start over on Kongregate for the last set, though. That was sad.. But I assume that you're forced to restrict something in versions you release on other sites for Kongregate, so that's understandable.
4. Lack of guidance. The best example I can think of is the sword... When I first got it in the 1st or 2nd dungeon, I don't remember which, I wandered around for at least 20 minutes wondering how to get to the next dungeon. I discovered by accident that I could cut the bushes with it (In retrospect, duh.). There was also the problem of dungeon order.. I did all the dungeons except two and had gotten to the red castle before I got the second shield upgrade, which would have made life so much easier in the other mini-dungeons. I guess that the game was meant to be open-ended, and the minimal direction was intentional. But, even a checklist of things you can get in the first world would have been a good idea, considering that it changes.
5. Graphics. They were somewhat cute in my opinion, which is fitting for this type of game. They were smooth and everything was well-drawn... I do wish that your weapon would stay in the right hand when you turned left, though.
6. Plot. The plot was also very cute and funny, which is what I hope you were going for. No complaints here.
In all, the great qualities of this game far outweigh the minuses. Excellent job, and I hope to see more from you guys.
