Reviews for "Megaman X: RPG Chapter 0"

meh...

its too slow and makes it really boring... i was bored to tears!

ChamberACR responds:

Stronger computers run this game faster. I'm sorry you found this boring, but these are technical faults that I have no control over.

You tryed.

For one this is hardlt Mega Man X for two: There is alot of Glitches lagg spots ect. Mabye you should get someone to say test your game? Because I like to explor but then I get stuck in area's die can't attack the monster but they can attack me. I had to restart the game over 11 times before actully beating it because of gitches and stuff sorry man. :/

Very flawed

So, about halfway into my play session, the thing decided to stop letting me scan. Once I'd got to the boss rush and saw that it was still refusing to let me scan (which the tutorial repeatedly says is integral to victory), I just gave up.

The text tends to go by too fast. This is especially true of the message you get right after completing a battle, which I guess tells you what you earned for winning. The story text progresses too quickly, as well; it seems there's a fixed length of time for each passage, yet some passages are much longer than others. Why not always leave the text up until the user presses the space bar (like you do for dialogs)?

The game seems to take itself way too seriously for what it is. Let's be honest, here: This is a Flash JRPG with a bunch of assets "borrowed" (no doubt without permission) from Capcom. It ought to be lighter-hearted and, well, just a lot more "lite" than it is.

The worst way this game takes itself too seriously is in the complexity of the ruleset. There's all these attack styles, meters, chips, items, blah blah blah. Complexity has its place, and that place is not in a game like this.

The complexity wouldn't be quite so bad were the interface not so clunky. I do appreciate the attempt to simplify the interface by limiting it to two buttons--space and backspace. However, certain things just don't make any sense. Why do I have to push the space bar again after having just pushed it to select an enemy to attack? Why do certain things in the level automatically activate (like the tutorial guide's dialog), but others don't? For that matter, why do I need to activate the item containers at all? Is it really going to be the case that I won't want to activate one? How will I know when I can't see what's inside without activating it?

The multi-jumping mechanic felt really--mushy. Like, sometimes it seemed that it used two jumps at once, because I didn't get the third one like I was supposed to. The jumps also didn't seem to have a consistent height. And often, when it looked like I'd jumped up to a ledge, I'd fall right through it.

I don't really get the warnings about hacking save files. What do you care if people hack their save files? Do you also sanity check all relevant variables at runtime to make sure no one is using a trainer? What do you care? I don't say this because I wanted to cheat, but because it just seems like a waste of resources that could have gone into, oh, I don't know, making the game better for the 99.9% of users who don't even know where the save files go, let alone plan to hack them.

i couldnt save :/

when i try to save (at a save point) it lets me select the save option, the slots come up, i select one, there is a bar saying that it is saving, then it says save successful, but when i save again, all the slots are blank again. i checked spy sweeper and it says cookies are unblocked but yeah...

what i was able to play was good though. i caught a lot of square soft refences. like timed hits from mario rpg, limit breaks from FFVIII etc

WTF?!

Its a really fun game and I got through all the dumb training and I go to play something else and it says that there is no save data! WTF GUYS?!

ChamberACR responds:

I don't know how I can make this more clear. There are instructions in the game; there are instructions on the menu; there are instructions on the start up; there are instructions multiple times in the comments. ENABLE YOUR FLASH COOKIES. If you're giving me a two because you can't read or pay attention, then...

You make me frustrated Guy.
