I love the concept!
The mechanics and learning curve were great, and I applaud you for that!
For gears 2, should you decide to make it; I think it would be cool to mix up the backgrounds, and add some end result upon finishing the puzzle.
When I see gears, I think industry and progress. Fit old industry along with steam power and electricity in, if you can do so without compromising the game play mechanics.
Ergh.
Frustrating. But I like it.
It was fun, but hard.
It's a good game if you don't mind a challenge. If you're the type to get frustrated at anything hard, so play a Hello Kitty game.

I simply love the gameplay. The mechanism design is well tought, and it's pretty much realist. I've alway been fond of mechanic and this game bring me back to my passion. The only place where I can build gear systems.
Pretty Creative
I did enjoy my short time playing this. It's pretty relaxing.
The music is nice and unobtrusive, but present.
The levels are pretty easy, but with the simple gameplay style (Just place cogs) It's as difficult as it can be, really.
Only one point I'd like to make for improvement.
Have a confirm exit of level editor button, 1 mis-click (for instance hitting the x with the intention of leaving test mode (do not do this)) results in the level lost forever.
I would love to see this but with more depth. Perhaps with belts and cams.
