Reviews for "Sketched - Therapy"

Frogs?

This is a good start to something amazing!

sirjeffofshort responds:

Thanks, we have a few more sketches if you want to check them out, and we put out a new one just about every month so rest assured, more are on the way.

Pretty good but...

I think you'd benefit alot by taking this to soundbooth or soundtrack pro and doing a little audio sweetening, maybe add some background music or sound effects. All in all really good work.

sirjeffofshort responds:

Although I am against adding background music where it isn't called for I do agree that more attention could go into the audio mix. I spend a LOT of time putting together the dialogue and cutting it so that it is quick paced and flows conversationally, but I don't spend nearly as much time considering sound effects and other filler sounds. I think there is a fine balance though, because too many sound effects would take from the reality of the situation and make it less funny.

Thanks for your review, I will certainly consider your suggestions for future shorts.

Pretty good!

It does seem that "being gay" is the first thing they mention in therapy. I was asked a coupke of times if I was a lesbian, despite my protests of being completely straight. I think they go for the "gay" thing because its an easy solution to why you're having problems. Obviously this cartoon was a little over the top, but it was meant to be. Animation was very nice and smooth, music worked well. I liked how perky the counseler was at the beginning, they do always act so chipper. Too much free access to Prozac, if you ask me. :)

sirjeffofshort responds:

Yeah, it really seems to hit home for a number of people who have been to therapy... curiouser and curiouser...

Thanks for the review.

it was ok.

I first thought they would ask him to come out of the closet. Since he was in one. And use that as proof that he was gay.
Doesn't he have a cellphone to call the police?
+ I would of kicked that door open.
He seems too do anything they ask him even if he is dubious of them.

sirjeffofshort responds:

We like the subtle approach better, trying not to flaunt the 'trapped in the closet' jokes. Haha. I'm not sure why but it always seems funnier when the straight man is blindly led into woe rather than putting up a fight. I mean it wouldn't be as funny if Lucy was like "Charlie Brown I have a football for you to kick." and Charlie Brown just sucker punched her in the head... wait a minute... I take that back... it would be funny.

Sometimes a shrubbery is just a shrubbery.

Methinks the dude protests too much. XD.
Hi-friekin larious as always.
So I've deconstructed the humor spectrum of 'Sketched'
4 parts enunciation
2 parts searching for the right word/hesitancy in speaking
3 parts chunky drawings
2 parts lip synch
2 parts punny associations between art and dialogue (although not as much in this one!)
3 parts hilarious animation interlude

16 parts. I'm not sure what parts are, exactly, but I have a compulsion to add things up and 16 is a pretty damn good number anyway, as numbers go. Mmmmm, 16.....

sirjeffofshort responds:

16 parts is always better than 15 parts I always say... which really didn't make much sense up until now. Thanks for your review I'm glad you enjoyed the short.
