Reviews for "Mortasheen"

you're a true artist

this isnt so much a review of this movie but of your designs, so their going to rate this as useless haha, but anyway. I liked this movie and it serves as great way to introduce to you your incredible artwork.
Personally im not such a big fan of your comedic, not that its bad its just not my style, obviously other ppl on here like it, and i do love how cliche parts of it are i know thats on purpose. But i think Abyssal is definitely your finest work. My favorite monster of yours and one im sure your proud of is Abysmal, your take on the angler fish. theirs something so provocative and profound about the naked woman as a lure ( though i prefer the more realistic version in Abyssal over your more cartoonish sketch). That is simply genius in my opinion.
I think if you really poured effort into a Lovecraft style dreamcycle, sort of like Abyssal but more composed with smoother transitions and more focus on the main character, i think ud have an instant win. being able to create out of the ordinary animal designs is a true talent, im an absolute fan, keep it up!

Scythemantis responds:

Yeah, the thing in "Abyssal" and the angler thing in Mortasheen are unrelated monsters with the same basic idea. The concept also just cropped up in Castlevania, but not too similar enough to bother me. It's logical really, an angler-type monster would have trouble luring us with fake "prey" since we don't really eat unfamiliar things anymore, but there are some things people will fall for against any common sense.

I do want to do more straight-up horror sometime, possibly even a direct followup to Abyssal. Thanks for your really thoughtful and flattering comment!

Comfused but feels better

I didn't think I was going to like that, but it was the perfect marriage of adorable and terrifying. Odd how it appears good reviews are being given bad votes. I guess it's not a perfect system.

omg :D

Awesome =D

That was...hmmm. Not even sure how to put this.

My thoughts on this are that it strangely reminded me of a Looney Tunes cartoon, but set in a world designed by both the creator of Ren and Stimpy, and possibly Neil Gaiman. The point is, I found it of a bizarre and entertaining nature. Good job! (Incidentally, love The Fear Hole, seriously.)

MORTASHEEN!!!!

Dude I enjoy your work, Mortasheen is something that reminds me of my childhood. Im not entirely creeped out by it all, yet I see somethings that could have been a nightmare of mine. I really do hope that you bring this world of Mortasheen to the spotlight . I enjoy checking out your website everyday to see whats new and Im never disappointed. Keep up the good work man
