Reviews for "Interactive Drum Kit"

Constructive Review

I enjoyed playing around with this, and I'll say first that it has potential, but it was a bit limited and simplistic in some areas .
Your drawings were fairly good, but I would try adding some color and making the mounted toms and hi hat/cymbal stands a bit more 3D.
As far as audio goes, everything was spot on. The sounds were crisp, clean and very responsive when clicked. It may seem kind of boring to some, but maybe add a metronome option the player can turn on/off to use while playing. Also, having an array of guitar/bass riffs from all different types of music to play along with would make this game more fun and take it to a whole new level, IMO.
The one major flaw this has is the fact you play with the mouse. This makes it impossible to keep an interesting beat! Using the keyboard would allow use of the hi hat/ride cymbal with the bass snare and tom drums simultaneously as one would when playing on a real drum kit.
Overall, I'd say that you have a good start. I really do see some good potential here. Please take some of my ideas/criticisms into consideration and keep working on this, I would love to see another version!

Wow, a metronome is a great idea. I would definately make the keyboard activate the drums if I knew how! Thanks for the great review!

almost not bad

I like the idea... but the thing that really bothered me was how you had to use the mouse. I felt it would have been better is it was done with the keyboard. You can only hit one drum at a time, you had to move your mouse to get to another drum and if you missed your timing would be messed up.

If it was on keyboard you could hit every drum on there or at least ten of them. Maybe for originality you should try recording your own drum hits, or get someone with drumset and some drum mikes to record the hits for you. Although free samples are fine I suppose.

It's a good idea but there is plenty of room for improvement.

Frenzy responds:

Yeah.

Thanks for the review.

Good but can be improved greatly.

Animation/Graphics - Nothing much as corky said, But maybe you could animate the cymbals and everything else. I think you may want to animate a drummer to make it seem like the sound isn't just coming out of space.

Story/Content - Well, If it's a freestyle kind of game, it really doesn't need one, unless you want to turn this into a completely different style of game, Like a kind that coolio makes. But Like i said, Make a drummer. Also, I just read a tiny bit of corky's, and i think that being able to dress them would be a great idea.

Audio - What more do you want? Drum noises were there. That's all you really need for this. Nothing really to say.

A note - I really think we could make cool songs if you made it so certain keys on the keyboard make certain notes play.

Overall - Overall i think that It is a fun game, But it can be GREATLY improved. Being able to dress your drummer and having the cymbals and everything, and especially pressing certain keys to make certain sounds.
