Reviews for "Get Off My Planet"

Excellent but always room for improvement.

This was an excellent game. I loved the graphics and the overall style of the game. Creating and defending your own world was a grand experience. I liked the varying types of weaponry and buildings. The game was challenging even on the easiest setting which isn't bad but for someone who isn't very good at these kinds of games it might seem a little too hard. There were some problems however. The weaponry seemed to suck up far too much power. Starting out I had about 5 laser turrets and 2 towers and the turrets could eat up the energy in no time. Another problem I found was that everything was far too expensive. I was struggling to make enough money to buy more energy towers and lasers even wit 5 mines. I never did get to build a research center so I don't know if that allowed you to cut down the costs of things or reduce the amount of energy used by your weaponry. I'll be playing it again and next time I think one of the first things I'll build is a research center. One last little thing, the waves seemed to come far too quickly waves would advance while I was still fending off the wave before them and eventually the waves built up on me.

I also found a glitch where the health of my city dropped to zero as soon as the 20th wave began. My health was full and there wasn't an enemy in sight but it just dropped straight to zero and I lost.

what?

I had been playing for about an hour. I had a great defense then all of the sudden enemy's came from north west south and east all at the same time and when they hit something they did more than ten thousand damage in a nine block radius what the hell.
it was great fun though.

It's got potential, but needs a lot of work.

The game has potential. The major problem which completely destroys it at this point is the game economy and balance. The cost to benefit ratios are completely whacked, which renders a majority of the "advanced" buildings and research completely useless in both the long and short runs. You'll either be long dead or too well off before any research pays off. As it stands, the majority of the "better" weapons are too costly to warrant their use. You are usually better off buying multiples of the lowest end weaponry. The building cost scale up only adds to the imbalance, which in order to support the defense weaponry you'll be completely bled dry of money and scraping by. This of course isn't helped by the fast the rate at which enemies appear and the rate they scale up in difficultly compounds all the previous issues.

Again the game has potential, but the author needs to sit down and do the math. The only way these kind of games work is by carefully tweaking the benefit/cost ratios in order to make it stuff worth buying. Also the enemy waves need to get more difficult at a rate that is feasible for the diligent player to be able to keep up.

Another issue is performance, but I can't completely attribute that to the author, but more of an issue with inefficient design and implementation of Flash.

Wow

An amazing game. Didn't know whether or not I should play at first, but I'm glad i did.

Pretty good...

However, it got very tedious near the end. After getting the 5k towers (and doing no research) it was pretty easy and the only problem was making enough money, which takes forever and then some. Gaia planets also seem rather useless; considering the only thing you need food for is one (1x1) farm every time you upgrade your base, and your base upgrades are controlled by money, not population, there is no reason to not pick a mineral rich planet.

I got to 8k citizens and then got bored of waiting for the cash to roll in.
