Reviews for "Get Off My Planet"

Perfect!!

This game is one of the most I like
but its very hard.
I still like it a lot!!! :)
Great Job doing it dude.

meh

not bad its just not my "type" of game

A good 'START' to a game

I've spent probably 30 or 40 hours at LEAST playing this game.
I think it's a lot of fun and have immensely enjoyed it. The music loop is really nice and never really gets old, the graphics are colorful and fun, the gameplay is 'mostly' smooth.

The concept is nice...having enemies coming from all directions forcing you to look at the upcoming waves and spread out your defenses adds a nice touch of strategy that most tower defense games lack.

It is not a tower defense game that you can just sit down and start playing..it takes a few rounds to really understand what's going on, but I'm quite ok with that. The difficulty is at a mostly good level. Nooblet (while making for a loooooong game) is easy enough to enjoy once you've gotten the hang of the game. Normal difficulty certainly gives you a run for your money (in fact, I have yet to beat it). I suppose anyone who's actually BEATEN normal may enjoy the hard level. I haven't tried that last one myself..

Now, keeping in mind that I LIKE this game, I have some harsh criticisms.

ISSUE NUMBER ONE
It's still full of bugs.
a) Many other reviews have pointed this out. after wave 51, the game easily lags and crashes..even on a fast fast FAST computer with the graphics quality turned down.
b) Building locations around the edge of the planet are inconsistent. Sometimes I'll play and I can build a tower RIGHT on the edge. Other times I have to build it a space back because it won't let me that close. EVERY spot on the planet should be useable (imho).
c) Sometimes the first upgrade for your city costs $100. Sometimes it's $700. Not a huge issue, but it exists.
d) Power plants can be purchased for $500 no matter what their real cost.

ISSUE NUMBER TWO
Towers aren't very well thought out in the slightest.
a) The triple laser is the ONLY laser worth building. Period.
b) Missile towers - Unless they do splash damage and I've failed to notice (and even then it may not even be worth it), ALL missile towers fire too slowly and do too little damage to be of any use.
c) Freeze tower is completely ineffective at any stage in the game.
d) EMP tower 'appears' to do nothing. Literally nothing at all.

-- in short, on normal difficulty I can play through to level 53 or 54 using nothing but tripple lasers and the 4 obliterator towers we're allowed to have and I have no inspiration to even bother with the other towers anymore.

ISSUE NUMBER THREE
Terraforming options aren't enough.
a) Gaia..while a nice idea, is worthless. If there weren't waves of enemies that did more damage than the population GOAL of the game..it might be nice having better hospitals and farms and such. Since a single ship can take out your entire city even with 24,000 people in it, this option is horribly useless. If it made your planet more habitable by increasing the population your city could support with every upgrade, that'd be a BIG start to making it useful. Otherwise though it's not worth the bother.

b) Mineral - More output from mines, more output from power plants..HURRAY! ...still not enough to stem the tides however...maybe if it increased the capacity of your power storage as well....

MY BIGGEST ISSUE:
After level 51 the game becomes impossible to survive for more than a few waves.
With a mineral terraformed planet and over 2000 max power (which means a LOT of power regen), my triple lasers and obliterators still don't have enough power to handle the oncoming waves. If not for the bug which allows for cheap power plants, it'd be literally impossible to build as many plants as I had, even..they get too expensive too fast.

Ways to improve this game:
- Either make power plants cheaper or more effective.
- Add separate volume controls for music and sound effects (I like the music, not always the sound).
- Make the other towers more useful OR allow for upgrading individual towers instead of just one-for-all upgrades at the research center.
- Make the game PLAYABLE after wave 51...either through revision of the weapons, power, or enemies.

Awesome

I really liked it.... for a better review see fizzy :D

One little bug that really bothers me.

Sometimes at the very beginning it won't let you place your city and when you click the city disappears, forcing you to f5 refresh and wait for it to load again. Other than that it is a pretty fun game!
