Reviews for "Geoffrey's Quest"

Fun little point and click

It actually wasn't too hard figuring out what to do to get to the next room but thats not so much a bad thing. Too many games that pretty much break your spirits to go find a walkthrough but here, its sort of like a point-and-click for the casual gamer. I would like to see a slight increase of difficulty though. Now there are only a couple of things that bothered me in this game:

There was on puzzle that was, for lack of better words, stupid. In order to break a vase I had to pick up the cane first? Why? It just seemed you wanted to really extend the gameplay just a little bit for that. At first I didn't even know that it was because of the cane that the vase broke and as a result I was confused for a minute wondering why I can't pummel that guard to death with it. Some puzzles just don't have to be that lengthy. Also, even if I did use the cane to knock something over, why can't I use it still? I'm not saying that we should be able to hold onto items for multiple tasks but you should at least give a good reason why we have to leave it behind.

The other thing is the ending. Now I pretty much gather you are planning a sequel so the grim ending doesn't upset me at all. I actually liked it. But I do think I was cheated in a sense that, going through this game a couple times to ge the different endings, I was given lame endings of text. Now you did say when you did make this, you weren't so good at flash so maybe next time treat us with some "cinematic endings." It doesn't have to be anything grand or special but the entertainment factor can shoot up so much just be replacing the text with a little animation.

Well, that's it for me. Great game, overall, and I really look forward to the next one.

JunkYardAnimations responds:

thanks a lot, i appreciate the review.. and as for the text to end the game, my goal was to make the game sort of like a creepy novel... i didnt even want to use characters in it.. the ending was just text so the user could picture the ending themselves.. i left a lot of the game up to the users imagination.. thats why i didnt show any of the characters faces.. so u could put yourself in Geoffs shoes and play as if it were you in the game

Yikez

Fantastic dude nice game :)

it really cool how you actually reply 2 the people

some just wont keep up the good work :)

JunkYardAnimations responds:

yeah i figure people take the time to play my game and leave a review that it's only curious i actually respond to them, plus I have a lot of time on my hands lol. i've tried contacting many people that produce great work and i always love getting a response back... such as comedian Jeremy Hotz, I even have him on Facebook now same with Tom Green.

Enjoyable

It wasn't overly complicated or difficult and the amount of keys did become a bit silly but nevertheless it was enjoyable and had a pretty creepy atmosphere, I especially liked the bleak ending.

JunkYardAnimations responds:

lmao you can never have a point n click game without keys... it wasn't until after i tested the final result of this game that I realized thats just a fucking ridiculous amount of keys but aw well

Shotguns use shells, not bullets.

30 degrees wont do anything. A hot day is 30 degrees. And you really shouldn't have forced the whole game to reset just because a player assumes that the code will be remembered, just like with the combination lock.

JunkYardAnimations responds:

it goes up to 100 degrees man... 100 degrees will burn you to death. stop pointing out the minor flaws in the details lol, make me look bad :(

Kind of a dissapointing ending...

The game was nice but it was like...

"Hey, you lose...loser."

Or, it was like,

"Hey, you win! But you still lose...loser."

JunkYardAnimations responds:

its leading up to a sequel
