Best Game of 2008
The gameplay itself is intuitive, fun and easy. Nothing can be simpler than building and firing, all with the click of a mouse. The graphics are simple, yet fit the game so well. What little animation and artwork that exists is well done.
Unfortunately, a game such as this cannot avoid some political commentary. While it is true that total Palestinian deaths (civilian and military) far outnumber Israeli deaths (civilian and military), we must examine the root cause of Israel using overkill tactics on the Palestinians. If you are not one of the few who deny history, we can revisit World War 2, and more specifically the Holocaust. Numerous ethnic groups, homosexuals, and mentally/physically challenged people were brutally slaughtered by Nazi Germany. Among the countless of pointless deaths, the death toll of the Jews numbered approximately 5.9 million men, women, and children. The total death toll of the German people was 7.06 million military and civilian casualties. This works out to roughly 2 Germans for every one Jew. However, the majority of the entire world was fighting the Germans and if one wishes to compares actual Holocaust v. German casualties, it would be 11.87 million men, women, and children and 7.06 million respectively.
I point to these numbers to illustrate a point which the Israelis point to; never forget the lessons of the Holocaust and do not let it happen again. So when Palestinian Fundamentalists attack the Nation of Israel, it is easy to understand the underlying fear of the Israeli government when they respond with swift, brutal attacks. If you beat a dog enough, you shouldn't be surprised when the dog bites back.
Regardless of one's political affiliation, we again turn to history to look at the original cause of the Israel/Palestine conflict. After WW2, the British stole the land of Palestine and gave it to the Jewish people for a homeland. Instead of attacking the British, the Palestinians attacked the Israelis, unwilling to share any land with their brothers from Father Abraham.
The war itself is not that simple; rooted deeply in biblical verse, the Temple of Jerusalem /Temple on the Mount, and simple ethnic pride, the conflict will not be solved until both parties agree to live in peace under a non-secular government.
I applaud you in creating such a game which establishes a real dialogue and encourages thoughtful discussion. Because of this, you have my vote for best game of 2008.
ps-Although it is past the time for it, I do wonder if a game similar to this based on the Northern Ireland conflict between the Catholics and Protestants would have resulted in similar positive reviews and encouraged an open, thoughtful discussion.
Great Game! plain fun for 5 minutes
this is amazing...and so true, Israel should not keep trying to make peace and help the Palestinians when those Arabs keep trying to bomb israeli citizens, they should bomb the F out of them because they are simply much much stronger. The only wrong thing about this game is that Israel is fighting against HAMMAS! not PALESTINIAN CITIZENS! Israel tries to hurt people who are involved in terror acts, not regular people unlike what hamas is trying to do.

Ye know in all honesty christanity Judiasm, and islam all pray to the same god only in vastly differant ways, though islam out of the three condones religous war. honestly why can't we just see people and not race or religion, as i and communism say religion is the opiot of the masses. Although I do not condone war on a vast majority of reasones, I do condone the way in which Isreal has acted, in a way to ensure its citisens safety by crushing it's opposition. although I do thin a more peacefull resolution could be found, it does serve as a point. All in all a good and suprisingly addictive game.
