Reviews for "Nocturne"

So soft yet powerful; very serene and relaxing. The beauty of this piece is outstanding.

BlazingDragon responds:

Thank you my friend. That is very kind of you! :)

Again just the type of music I love to hear. I'm a big person for classical music, but I hardly understand a thing about the forms with the letters and all. lol. Anyways I might just have to fav you as an author!

BlazingDragon responds:

Even without knowing all the technical stuff, I think people can enjoy classical music for how deep and emotionally complex it often is. :) Thanks you!

Very good, very polished. I could probably complain about something or other if I really tried (and normally I do for the sake of hoping to help ppl improve) ... but I'm too content with it to do so. Just enjoyed listening to it, and nothing in any way detracted from the enjoyment. Excellent work.

BlazingDragon responds:

Thank you for the kind remarks, skywood. :D I listened to Life, Obstinato and liked what I heard. It's always nice to get a review from another composer.

I'm currently taking a classical music course as an elective, and I wish I could find an excuse to bring this piece up in the class. All of the pieces we're being exposed to seem to never stray from the same playlist as any grade-school music teacher. While I have nothing against the Classical masters, I do wish that their more interesting and soulful pieces would get some scholastic attention, but I rant.

I wouldn't say that it escaped your style too much, but it's definitely a more composed piece. Rather than forming a song around a melody line, you seem to have gone into the more intricate technicalities, but the important thing is that you haven't lost your soul amongst it all. Never lose that.

BlazingDragon responds:

If you would like to hear some truly amazing classical pieces that are full of emotion, you might consider checking out some of the following pieces:

-Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings (Talk about intense...Wow. Turn off the lights and listen to this with the volume up. It's worth your time, I think)
-Mozart's Lacrimosa
-Rachmoninov's Piano Concerto #2, Movement 2

Any of those make what I composed here sound like carnival music in comparison, but you should really close your eyes, turn up the volume, and listen through the entire piece uninterrupted to get the fullest from any of the above three. :)

As you said, this piece is much more focused on form, harmony, and the finer details of composition than my usual pieces. Still, I tried to keep it "me." I wish that I had a live recording of this for you to hear! It was so amazing to hear my piece performed by a skilled pianist...But I digress lol. Thank you very much for your kind words!

I... almost have no words to describe this... Such grace, such joy in listening the simple sounds of a piano, however, arranged like this... One of the most beautiful melodies on a piano i ever heard. May sound like heresy, but i think this is something by the level of moonlight sonata, two of my favourite piano songs ever (first and third movements). I commend you, sir, for giving me such joy in hearing this MASTERPIECE. I can't think of something to advice, as this work is almost in the level of perfection. My simple mind would not be enought to recognize a mistake in this gift from the heavens. Thank you, infinite times, thank you.

BlazingDragon responds:

Yes, that is indeed heresy. :p I do not believe my humble little piece even comes close to Moonlight, but I appreciate the enormous compliment!

Thank you very much for the kind words. You made my day brighter. :D
