I dont see why this game is getting such bad reviews. Apparently everyone on newgrounds has turned into a bunch of pussies who whine and complain whenever a challenge is put infront of them.
I loved the learning curve of the game, and while I was frustrated with the jumping at first, by the time you put enough skills in your lightning power you're bouncing around the level and hardly touch the ground. It really brings out the feeling that you were powerless at the beginning, and you slowly understand just how powerful the wizard was before the megagate was summoned.
The game had me addicted after the second level, when I wanted to become as powerful as possible and max out my stats. I played non-stop for about an hour before I beat the game (I played the arena a bunch to get more points in the necrohand power).
While the graphics were simplistic it really went well with the game, although I would have preferred more diversity among the enemies instead of various sizes of a land enemy, and various sizes of a flying enemy.
Swapping spells took a bit of time to get used to, but then again the learning curve for the game really makes you appreciate it more once you've mastered it. I don't know how many times I summoned a necrohand, then pressed the wrong button, and unsummoned it before I could imbue it.
Overall it's a great game, and doesn't deserve to get bashed like it is. The gameplay is unique and challenging which doesn't make it bad, not by a longshot. I enjoyed playing the game and I hope you don't get discouraged by the negative reviews, and I look forward to a sequel (I suggest more enemies, maybe a new spell or at least new abilities for current spells, such as a fireball or having fire stay burning on walls and floor, or chain lightning, etc). Keep up the good work!

I loved your game , it was refreshing, new, creative and had alot of action.
The system worked great although i was a bit sad that the last boss could be much more and give more stat points.
I am happy to say i wasted 2 hours at last playing your game and i enjoyed every min of it.
