Reviews for "ECHO - Eye of the Dragon"

I listen to this song on a regular and every time I listen to it I get that feeling that I am going on the most amazing journey ever, a journey through the unknown...I love it and much respect to you. The song never gets old.

Wow, this was really impressive.

Really all I can do criticism-wise is to wish that there was a little more variety in the instrument choice in regards to woodwinds. I don't really know how that would work, but the song ended with me wanting more oboe or clarinet (then again I have bias because that's my instrument XD)

I really enjoyed the build up to the more dramatic part, especially the slow crescendo you placed in the french horn (? I think that was the timbre I heard. Correct me if I'm wrong :E). Once the crescendo finished you could have made the melody a little...harsher? I think that's the word I'm looking for... Anyways by putting it in not only the french horns(?) but also a strong trumpet and trombone (or if your feeling really gutsy and German a tuba as well :D) and really had that melody cut. The horn has a wonderful melancholic sound, but that could have been more active. But then again, plenty of composers have used just horn for something like that. Jeremy Soule used solely french horn for his iconic theme in "Reign of the Septims" from TES: Oblivion. I guess it's personal preference.

Anyways, enough from me. I didn't write this, so I should stop talking (typing?).

Awesome piece. I'll be watching your submissions in the future for sure.

I highly enjoy this, but I am giving you a 4.5, cause it feels slightly scattered about. But besides that, its amazing.

Thanks for the criticism!

It's a fantastic piece for sure, but I think it should have been tad more dynamic. I'm not too sure how to say this in English, but the overall emotional output of the song ranged from epic and heroic to gentle and heroic, and that's it. It tells a story, but it's a one-sided and therefore less interesting story, in my opinion.

I hope that even made sense :/

Echo responds:

Yeah it kinda made sense. I tried to make the piece as emotional as possible and it might not work out with everyone, which is entirely fine.

Thanks for the review! :)
