Reviews for "Guitar Geek"

Yeah, this is pretty good!

Music rocks, and gameplay is pretty damn solid...got a decent enough score on my first go, and I'm not that good at rhythm action gamez. Good way to spend a lunch break, look forwward to seeing more in the future :)

This ROCKS \m/

This is pretty damn fun. I just wish it was a bit harder and that you implemented strumming in there some how (the pick at the menu got me excited). Maybe release some new songs in the future too!

Awesome Game!

It's really fun and it's so simlar to Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Really Fun

Someone does this right finally. It's really fun, and it's good as is, buuuut I can think of some improvements.

-The avatar dude, he sucks. I'd rather be able to customize my own or do what GH did and give you a selection.
-A guitar selection. We need some different shapes and colors.
-The strobe light during the solo needs to go. Can you do something LESS annoying in the game play for the solo?
-Lots of notes really close together didn't seem to hit very well. I don't know if it was me, or what.
-The difficulty doesn't seem to scale very high. I played one song on easy, and went straight to Geek and beat everything without failing. If you can fail. (<.<)
-The song selection is kind of slim (what do you expect in a flash game though), and it's all very monotone. I'd like to see other bands and more gameplay really. One of the biggest things that make rhythm games replayable is the songs, and well.... Where's the songs?
-Needs more notes. Not chords, this is incredibly chord heavy, which is the only parts I struggled with. Also it's just... Very out of sync. Needs to fit the music more.
-Needs different sounds for general. The pick is an alright idea, but the sound is annoying.

I hope in time you might release a sequel or at least other versions with different songs or something. Until then, keep up the good work and good job.

A fan of rhythm games

I'm definitely familiar with rhythm games, and I've played quite a few. Some good, some not so good.

I'm gonna have to say this one was pretty good. You guys did a great job with the sync, which is ultimately what makes a rhythm game good or bad in my opinion. Graphics were pretty neat, and I like that you considered a few key options. I enjoyed the music selection, and overall I had fun.

The only thing I may gripe about is the difficulty, but you gave a fair warning ahead of time, so you already know that Geek mode truly wasn't that challenging.

9/10, 5/5. Keep up the good work, Megadev team. I'd like to see more rhythm games from you guys in the future.

Megadev responds:

We've had a quite a few comments about the difficulty - most people are happy with it, but there's quite a few "hardcore" players out there wanting something beyond "Geek" level. If and when we make a sequel then we'll definitely be upping the difficulty. ;-) Thanks for playing!
