Reviews for "Hanna in a Choppa"

Simple, yet engaging

This game is great. The easy controls are very intuitive and allow you to go through the levels with no difficulty. The achievements are tough, but still attainable enough to make you want to get them. Each level had something new and interesting to add, making this game engaging until the last level.

However, the Hard Controls need work. They were simply to finicky for my tastes. If you bump the chopper against a wall or flip over, you'll have a hell of a time getting it back out, as most of the time the "flick" technique will make your mouse go off the screen and autopause the game. Although the Autopause was a great way to try and make it more fair, I got sick of having to stop and start over and over again. If you put the controls on "feather light" to make it easier to flick without getting the autopause, you can barely control the helicopter the rest of the time. Plus, just sitting on the ground the helicopter is moving. This made ending a level difficult sometimes, as you'd touch down only to move away from the exit.

The hard controls added another element to the game, but where before you felt like you had direct control over everything and difficulty was based purely on your own skill, with hard controls some if it felt more unpredictable and "cheap." It sucked all the fun right out of the game.

My advice, screw the hard controls. The easy ones are still fun after beating most of the levels on hard controls, and the achievements are a better way to add difficulty for people looking for a challenge than changing the control elements in my opinion.

Make more!!

CMU responds:

If you don't want to play on the hard controls, that's fine of course! Thanks for giving it a fair go though. The hard controls really do give you more accurate control, but it also takes a lot longer to build up that affinity with them (and featherlight is definitely the way to go).

I put a couple of videos on youtube showing how you can fly pretty neatly with them - fast+perfect in the same run in most levels.

Good but...

The gameplay was good, physics weren´t all that in this game, and you didn´t even have to thinnk. The ¨puzzles¨ weren´t hard and puzzly. In the only few levels were you actually HAD to think you spoiled the solution with captions that, although some are funny, ruined the ¨thinking¨part of this game.

CMU responds:

It may have been trivial to you, but I get endless reports from other people saying it's too hard. Seems to be about the same number of people saying it's too easy as too hard. From a designer's point of view, that sounds just about right!

hmm

mixed feelings, original level designs, the game itself looks very original. smooth, easy to control, simplicity is always good to see. however i found myself a little bored, and the game sort of lags, not in the literal sense, but its just a little slow at times.. a little repetitive with picking up things and dropping them places. i am sure the next edition will be even better. good game.

wow

i got every achievement :D
but if you every make another (which i hope you do) please dont make it as hard as the crushing level
getting not touching anything at the top was a bitch, and i landed close enough one time to win, but too far so it counted as me hitting something so i didnt get a perfect

wtf?

WAOW...even Blockhead is bettah
