Reviews for "Monster Dropper"

JWFOIWJOIAJIOPDAMNIT!

Okay, I'm dropping the normal review scheme for this one.

This game sounds like a great concept. "Hey, I'll make a puzzle game that's bright, requires you to match things to progress, and have 5 levels of difficulty!"

While the game certainly achieves all of those things, you probably should have put "Not broken and frustrating as fuck" on that list.

I'm a pretty big fan of this style of game, so I came in pretty enthusiastically. That same enthusiasm was quashed when I realized a few things that pissed me off about this game...

1) There's no way to tell what piece I'll get next, and no timer to indicate when the next wave of monsters will drop. It seems like sometimes it'll get delayed if I clear out a few patches of them, while at other times it will drop just as I'm positioning myself. Speaking of which...

2) If I drop a monster just before or at the same time a new wave is dropping, then my piece will end up above the wave that just dropped. It seems like a minor thing, but when you don't know when they're coming or what piece you'll get next, you'll be scrambling all over the place trying to get shit set up before it gets ruined. Granted, it does add a frantic pace to the game, but not a fun or exciting one.

3) When a column is filled with monsters and blocked off, it keeps filling up. Maybe that's there to limit the time of play, but it certainly is a pain when you think about the things I've mentioned above.

I'm not going to hold it too much against you, seeing how as this is your first time making a game like this, but these are definitely a few things to consider on the next one. While I'm at it, could you see about adding some mouse controls?...

wilsonbb responds:

thanks for the feedback. Some very good points.
1. indicate when the wave of monsters going to drop
2. show whats next monster block
3. if one column is filled up that column wont be dropping monster blocks.
4. cannot drop monster when the next wave is about to drop

and maybe mouse control.

Just FYI the timer stops when you are moving and dropping monsters, so by moving and dropping faster, players can actually delay the dropping of next wave .
