Reviews for "A Crow in Hell"

huh, weird.

Its weirding me out that everyone says this game is too difficult,
I beat it in 15 minutes and enjoyed most every second. I'm also a little confused as to why the difficulty matters so much to people, you all act like ninja gaiden doesn't count or something, and trust me it counts.

Point is, people are taking cheap shots for the games difficulty. In all fairness, the games looks were nice, if a little monotonous after a little while. The scenery changing subtly as you moved higher up was a nice touch, though it looked more like "roman catacombs" meets "the mummies tomb" more that hell should look. Not enough red i guess.

The controls were nice and simple and you never asked anything more of the player than he could accomplish. Surprises, timing, chases, and maneuvering were done well enough to be challenging but not impossible. However some of your design element were rather wasted or unnecessary. For instance:

Keys. I'm aware you can only complete different challenges with enough keys in hand, but I think the keys could be better used to say, unlock a brand new set of mazes to fly through, create short cuts in the maze, or get power ups and cheats.

Levers. Every time you involved a lever into the level i thought i was going to have to go into puzzle mode, but i never had to. If you have to use levers, make a puzzle out of it, make us think what to do next.

Dickery. Don't look away, you know what I mean. Flying along nice and complicated like when out of nowhere I'm struck with a spear/shovel/stick/hand/bucket. Its annoying. At least tell us or show us all the immediate dangers, because no one likes solving the puzzle after they die. On a side note, when I finally killed the farmer and escaped, I was tempted by another key, i almost got it to, when I was killed by the credits. THE CREDITS?!?! the game had already ended and I could not get the key without playing the game again. That's just Dickery my friend, and its not making you popular.

Finally, the ending was so totally anticlimactic I'm surprised i didn't cry for the disappointment of it all. Seriously, Humping the guys face till death is not how i picture a crow murdering someone. Its just kinda sad.

at the end of the day, still fun, but could be better. And CREDITS? FRICKEN CREDITS KILLED ME!!!

Brilliant game with a flaw

This, sir, is quite a brilliant and difficult game. This wasted about 2 hours during school just to finish the whole thing. However, I'm sure most people wouldn't want to spend that much time just for a flash game (as I read the previous reviews, I'm patient, and I wouldn't have played the whole story if I was at home).

So if you're going to make a new one, I suggest adding a handicap or easy(ier) mode that makes the crow explode only to the falling rocks/blades/insects/etc, not the plain ground, ceilings and walls.

Or have the current style of the game be the extreme mode and the normal mode be the thing I just suggested. Either way, this game needs a way to turn down the difficulty while keeping the extremity of this game's current difficulty. Easy mode/normal mode for the not so patient and easily frustrated players, and extreme mode for the extreme and patient players.

In terms of the controls, it's fine for me at least. It's part of the extreme difficulty that I like about it.

Nice but..

Waaaaay too hard! You had to avoid everything and that was so hard! Animation is sweet, but make the levels abit bigger so it ain't so hard.

too hard

simply too hard,
i don't want to spend more than half an hour on a newgrounds games...
i've just spent like 2 minutes and i think that it is too much...
sorry but i didn't even passed level one...
waste of time
nice graphic though

could be better

I agree with Epic Wolf, the concept and the storyline is unique and all that.
The games's graphics were nicely done as well.
however, the gameplay was dry and the difficulty is at a level that woudn't appeal to the majority.
there isn't any sort of incentive in reaching new stages, same graphics, same music, no form of lvl ups, which can really turn the players down from going on furthur.
Add a bit to the game dynamics.
