my paddle can be dead centered on the ball and the ball just vanishes and my opponent gets a point. lame.

Faithful recreation of the original pong game with proper sound effects and a pretty fair AI opponent. The only minor issue I had was with the ball clipping at some times.

That sucked and was annoying to boot. Man, two words: COLLISION DETECTION! Work on it. From my analysis of this near decent game, the only point of collision detected is the very center of the ball/square/projectile. This makes shots using only the upper or lower half of the paddle very very difficult. Look closely and you'll actually see nearly half the ball go through a wall or a paddle. The AI doesn't even compensate for this thereby half the time the rounds don't last more then my return shot. Nice, but work on it. If that's all they teach of collision detection I'm gunna be pissed at that book.
Already a bug...
Already found a bug. If you don't move the mouse, you will automatically win.
Nice programming, but the puck passes the paddle if it is going fast enough.
Increase the frame rate to 24 FPS or higher and increase the refresh loop (if you can). That should fix it.
