Reviews for "Whiteboard Tower Defense"

awesome

got me playing the whole day =D

Well Done!

I'm something of a fan of Tower Defense games. The genre is one of my flash game favorites. That said, there have been some terrible Tower Defense games. I mean really terrible. Like, everything from games where blocks are shooting circles at x'es, to games in which you can wall of the exit and make the minions run in circles. There have been some greats, though. Those in the tier of Vector Tower Defense are fairly rare. I wouldn't say this game is quite as good as Vector, but I would absolutely say it's in the same tier, which is quite a stunt. Great Game.

The graphics here are simple but well done. Not everything in life has to be heavy in detail, and this game pulls off white board graphics beautifully. The sound was well voiced and I appreciated that you added the squeak. You could have used a few more sayings for each enemy type, but aside from that the sound was well executed.

I noticed that there were only three types of enemies in the game. Green tripods who seem to be slow but durable, quick winged devils, and angry blue circles who serve as sort of an in between. The three enemies cycle getting tougher and tougher over time, but only the three ever appear. It doesn't really take much away from the game, but honestly you could use more enemy types. Also, you could use some sort of graphical sign that an enemy is a boss, rather than simply having someone show up on their own, and the fact their alone means their the boss. This isn't a big deal though, just to be clear. Just something I noticed.

The difficulty of this game was pretty high. The easy mode wasn't to hard, but I felt like it should have been normal, and normal should have been hard. Just as a rule of thumb I say that easy is the mode that will be doable for someone who has never played this type of game before. They might die a time or two, but they can do it without to much stress. Normal should be doable for someone who has played this game, and maybe other Tower Defense games in the past, and knows what their doing. And when I say doable, I mean in under twenty tries. I think the problem may be that the money the enemies put forth, doesn't perfectly match the difficulty of killing them, meaning that to get enough money to build a tower that could kill the enemy, you nearly must have already killed him. I can do it, but it took me quite a while.

I found your instructions to be misleading. For one thing, it shows a the towers in a triangular patter which, when attempted, results in loss within the first two rounds. I know this because I tried it out of curiosity, thinking it may be more effective. It was not. Furthermore, the instructions warn not to spend all of ones money, but when I attempted that, the enemy got through my maze much more quickly and I lost. Due to the aforementioned imbalance in difficulty as opposed to money, not using your money in anything but the easy mode, results in death. It warns to save your respect, but that doesn't seem like a tip so much as a statement of objective. Your respect is your health, and you only lose it if the enemies are getting past you and your losing it against your will. The other one, sending critters in early... well that's just a way to speed up play which saves time if your good, but will make you die otherwise, and brings no real advantage.

I found the credit screen to have the feel of an afterthought, but I'm sure no one minds. The sound of a squeaking dry erase doesn't make sense with the words sliding onto screen, and the red devil thing flies on screen and speaks with the voice of a green slowmo. Then the critters all run across the screen. It's cool looking but as a whole this section doesn't seem well thought out.

Over all, really awesome game. I very much enjoyed playing it, and it's not to common to find a tower defense of this caliber. Nothing legendary, but really good regardless. Thanks for the effort and keep up the good work! ^_^

Cool

I liked the whiteboard graphics. Its a quite fun an addicting game. Reached level 27 on easy mode.

great game

really fun and addicting game!

Good but...

This is a decent game but the learning curve is too steep. I only tried on normal and died in one of the first few levels a bunch of times in a row before I got the hang of it.
Other than the excess difficulty, I liked the style. Controls were ok but could've been a little easier to work with.
