Incredible game! I played this series out of order -- I think it was something like 2, 3, 1, prologue, 4. But even after seeing the Death Slugs at work, even though they should have been old news... that first sight of the birth pod still creeped me out, and the entire hatching result was just as disgusting as ever. That's how I react to enemies like this, and you deliver the art big-time.
Fortunately, Liam and Reemus are goofy and winsome enough to more than make up for it. Liam can being surprisingly cute even when he's just climbing a rope, and Reemus' lines make him an unlikely hero. The later games emphasize their brain/brawn combo, but here, they're straight-up charming.
And the puzzles are just amazing. I wasn't so fond of the prologue's time-limit deaths, but that's no problem here. The tasks all over these games tend to be straightforward (trap, tool, battering ram, whatever), but the artful scenery has all kinds of quirky resources. Some solutions are mundane, but a few are funny -- especially the ant inspector in the prologue, the war birds in c3, Goliath in c4, or the potion scene here.
Great work for two great buddies!
