Reviews for "Keytar Hero II"

Pathetic reaction time!

Don't get me wrong here - the game looks great, and I'm sure it could be a very good replica of the real GH games. But you only get about half a second to react to each note as it appears!!
How are you supposed to hit everything when you barely have a chance to see it?! The real game gives you MUCH more time when you can see the notes before having to play them!

Also, just like the real GH games, you should not include the number 5 key on the easy songs. You should start off by possibly just using 1,2,3, then introduce 4, then definitely only introduce 5 after a few simple songs.

Unfortunately, I got fed up and quit after just one song because of the terrible gameplay - but I'd definitely want to give it another shot if you bother to update it a bit.
By the way, I didn't fail at this game simply because I'm rubbish at it - I've completed many other GH-style games on here such as the SCGM series with all perfects. It was your gameplay that's the problem.

WOW!

I'm sorry, but this is way fucking harder than real Guitar Hero! DAMN! I'm like trying to look for the note to see it come out and it kills me then I fail haha

meh

didnt work well

AWW MAN!!

but what happened to you!? D: keytar hero 1 ruled. you ruined part too, sorry if i was to mean but the thing where the notes pass was too small and the notes passed to fast!! gave you 4 because you improved some things and because i know you can do better. make a third one or a remake of this one but make that thing bigger and slower :D

Disapointing

I still can remember when I first discovered Keytar Hero here on Newgrounds. I played the hell out of it, unlocking every bonus, beating every song, going after new high scores. Needless to say, when I found out that Keytar Hero 2 was in development, I get really excited. The finish product, however, fails to live up to the awesomeness of the first game

First, the new control scheme. I loved that the original Keytar Hero allowed me to play on my laptop. Now, you have the conformist control scheme, forcing me to use the desktop. While minor for most, I found this to be a large inconvience.

Secondly, graphics. This game is pretty. Its clear that you put a lot of effort into making everything clear and crisp while maintaining the style of the original game, as well as adding new backgrounds.

However, I felt that the focus was too much on the graphics. In order to show everything off, the size of the thing you have to hit notes on is DRASTICALLY reduced, making the game much smaller. The other objects shoul be background - the focus must remain on the gameplay.

Another thing that took a hit for graphics seems to be creating your charecter. This just seems like a stupid removal to me. You could have easily ported over all the old customization options, slapped on some new ones, and called it a day. Instead, we have only a few choices.

Next up, difficulty. It was WAY too high. I mean, the first one was by no means an easy game, but it wasn't too hard either, and kept you playing. This one, I get frustrated and quit. There is no "easy" or "hard" mode - everything scrolls the same speed.

Song choice. To be honest, I prefer the first game. While I'm not against adding profesional tracks, why do we have to removal all user created ones? I would rather have more user tracks and less proffesional tracks. And, if your going to use AC/DC, why not use Back in Black or Have a Drink on Me or something?

Closing comments: Honestly, I wasn't a fan of any of the changes you made. The beta for this game gave me hope that this would be just as good (depite lacking music) as the first, but for some reason you made a command decision to take the focus from gameplay to pretty graphics. You would have been better off with a track pack like addition to the first game or continuing with the path you were on when the beta was released. 4/10 2/5
