Reviews for "Ancillary"

Wonderful

This game is wonderful. I have never been able to play a game so accessible before. Its sheer simplicity makes it expressive its ability to be enjoyable yet difficult when need be and while playing the campaign, the enemies in each round make sense. The further you get, there are still difficult enemies, but you can see they their forces are dwindling, so they send in some of the weaker units they have left. Although people may feel that the victory cinematic may not be fulfilling, there is still so much more to do, like Accuracy, Endurance, and Fortitude Challenges, along with cheats and a high score list, so you are always pressured to do your best.

All in all, I rate this a 5 and with a review boasting 10 stars. Good for you, Bryce.

Good

Its a great game and all but, the art in the Cut scenes were...not so good. You may want to hire someone to draw the characters and animate the cut scenes. The menu screen and buy screen were very good, liked the design. The effects were very good and the music also really fit in good. Good game, I voted 4.

Solid game marred by poor design decisions

Contrary to other reviewers, I do not think the gameplay itself is boring or so redundant that it cannot stand on it's own as an enjoyable game.

That's the good news.

Here's the bad:

Your responses to other reviewers are very inadequate. The links to other game sites need to be removed from the playing area, period. Telling people that you're sorry they didn't enjoy the game isn't helpful. Editing your upload for necessary changes is.

Additional information about the upgrades would be helpful. It's simple enough to understand that a damage upgrade will provide it's namesake. But I have no idea if I want to spend my very sparse, rationed points on sonic displacement, disruption shields, and bounties since you provide no documentation on what they do.

Suomaf responds:

I believe I've listed everything you need to know about the upgrades in the 'Upgrades Tab'. (Located on the main menu in the Instructions sub-categories)
Thank you for taking your time to review.

Pretty good

I like the strategy aspect of the game. The game play was pretty smooth. I didn't run into the clickable icon thing. But I still think the in game link is kinda tacky. Its definitely something you'll need to play a few times to get the right purchase path in place. So thumbs up for re-playability, something sorely lacking from most games.

Where's the instructions???

I'm not talking about the controls or the general 'point-and-shoot' directions.
I'm talking about guidelines for the challenge portions of the game. How many enemies exactly do you have to kill for Fortitude and Endurance for example? Fortitude is frustratingly easy to lose, and it would help a lot if I had some sort of goal other than "Don't get shot a single time" :PPP
It's an okay, but done to death premise. The gameplay is rather monotonous as well.
As already stated, the placement of the external links is incredibly annoying.
