I like the tower,ability and character choices.
You could add more abilities like autoloader which would increase the weapons speed of the slow weapons like the rpg and the anti air missile.

Not just another Tower Defense
Tower defense is a fairly overdone genre, however, there are some very notable traits in this one which make it very fun. The wide variety of upgrade paths available to the towers, the hero unit skills, and the "growing" paths lend some very fun and interesting gameplay alterations. If anything should be added, I'd say there needs to be some different graphics for the different forms of the towers, it'd be a lot of work, but worth it in the end. Explosions for "splash" damage weapons would also be a nice addition. Scaling up the effect of the hero stats by the level you're at would make a big difference, and help speed up the gameplay at the starts of later levels.
The "Specialize" system I feel could use a little reworking, instead of using specialization, I'd recommend an "upgrade" system, which allows you to upgrade particular traits, eg, range, fire rate, splash, and so on. The cost of the anti-air and anti-ground specialization is a bit much; losing 500+ damage to ground for a 100 advantage vs air? You'd be better off just building another of the same tower...
Perhaps a feature that could be added would be the ability to make a character to suit your personal tastes, but overall this character would have less total "points" between his or her stats than the premade characters.
The image backgrounds of some levels lack a graphic to show which is the "base" end of the path, so can become confusing in the beginning, I'd say making space show the "start/end" of path arrows as well as hero position could be invaluable.
I think this is a very good game, then again, I enjoy this sort of game.
