fun to shoot things?
Of coares. Who doesn't like games like this, fun and simple.
On second thought,
Given that I'm a Gradius Veteran, I found it to be a fun idea to try powering up the plasma artillery first. It was really hard to keep alive at first, but once I got the mana cost down, mana regen up, explosive addition and additional plasma shots, I was wiping the screen clean again and again. And the last boss didn't last 10 seconds when I spammed the plasma this way. So it *is* doable. But it's bloody hard to get to that point! Specially with no missiles, no health, and no upgrades to the Vulcan Lasers. All careful manoeuvring and even more careful plasma firing. A true expert's style of play. I like to look at it like...hmm...the DPS style, wheras the style mentioned by Wolfy42 would be more of a tank, one chat could take the hits but not really dish them out.
Plus, I think it's more impressive and entertaining to watch your vast array of plasma death reaching out and ripping everything apart on the screen. And everything you do in between shots is dodgework and fancy maneuvering, waiting till there are lots of enemies on the page, then letting fly again. And this way, you get huge score bonus too! So many things blowing up at once my speakers crackle!
The only trouble, then, is those blasted missiles that come at you at don't-blink speeds, and send out flak if you shoot them. Usually, I just dodge them and stop firing altogether, conserve mana, and wait to wipe the next page, or the boss (Which, in this method of play, doesn't last much longer than anything else).
However, I did also try boosting my HP from the start, and my vulcans and missiles, and shunned the plasma altogether. And with all the extra health I had to throw around, I decided, rather than dodge things, smash into them! This worked for a good while, and was rather fun to do! Just...not at the beginning, when you still have paltry health and no regen.
But the boss battles were guellingly long. So in this game, I much prefer my DPS ways. Actually...I'm like that in most games now that I think about it. i just love blowing things up.
And this game was perfect for getting out that need! So 10/10 and 5/5, and please, make something equally entertaining in which I might bloweth thy minions back to the hells from whence they came!
Now that I think of it...where *do* all those badguys come from anyway?
Fun short game
Had a blast but it was cake because I maxed HP up first and then MP up and so at the end of the game I had a ton of hp and MP...and could spam my lasers (maxed power boost and # of lasers) which took the end boss down very fast.
Lasers seem a bit over powered to me at least on the bosses if you max them (makes end fights super easy).
Very fun though
If you can't play this game...
...then stop complaining and leave it up to the big boys. This game is really good and is very challenging and I love it. I can play it all day, man.
