So, after designing a team logo which is a nice feature, then hanging around the air for a while collecting shit with nice music, 3Dness, and physics, then trying to position myself on one of these islands before it drops me, I land in the water.

The controls are on the loading screen, and my computer loaded it so fast that I couldn't see the controls so... :/

The controls are there right before you play every level too, and sit there until you click a button to move on, not sure how you missed them...
