Reviews for "JEBBAL - Dead Logic"

Great

but everything before 1:08 could be cut. No need to precede such a good tune with that other stuff. The note progressions are too cliche. After 1:08 had a very original sound though.

Jebbal responds:

I'm going to have to politely disagree with you here lol. I believe everything up to 1:08 is an essential part of the song, especially in its functionality for the game. But everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I respect yours, as I would anybody else's :) Glad you liked the song overall, though!

Thanks for the review!

QUITE good, nice and action packed

My only suggestion is to grab some more drum samples and layer them, composition is pretty kickass and some cool edits in there, great melodies too

Jebbal responds:

Thanks for dropping by to return a review! Not a lot of people do that. Great, great man you are ;)

Hahah yeah more work could have definitely gone into the drums, but I'm glad you liked other aspects of the song

Thanks again for the review!

Damn man

This is good! I think i may send this to xmillsa perhaps. This is good on so many levels! I also particularly like the little 8-bit sound you added. It makes it sound more unique. Plus, that dirty bassline was just sick man.

It got featured in the symphonic tower defence game? I did not know that since i didn't keep playing. I don't play flash games that often thats why.

Cheers, man :D

Jebbal responds:

Haha I'm glad you found so many appealing aspects! I had fun with that bassline ;)

This song is actually going to be used in the upcoming expansion of Symphonic Tower Defense, it didn't exist when the game first came out haha.

Thanks for the review, bud!

Awseome!

Damn man your getting so good!
I love this track.
The intro is so epic and hard. Has got the dubstep element in it, and the bass is so crispy, excellent with the effects of a phaser? haha.

1:21-1:30 was empty, what happened there?

Anyways a great upbeat track regardless =]

Great work!

Jebbal responds:

Thanks, broskeet! That's exactly what I was going for in the intro. There's no phaser on the grindy bass, though... or is there?!

1:21 - 1:30 was included in order to offer a bit of variation and also a small break for the player. An opportunity to recollect themselves in case 1:09 caught them off guard, ya know?

Glad you enjoyed the song! and....

Thanks for the review!

I like the 8bit-esque low qual blips at the beginning, especially with the effects used, and melody played, it sounded crystal clear. Tasty grinding bass too! Then the abrupt transition to double time rattling beat, you keep the listener guessing. Going from dry effects to wet in the same phrase is so unique, a listener can experience two emotions within the same melodical phrase, amazing. This has an intense action implication and all the elements used are so different, yet they mesh into an ingenious song. What is neat about this song is hard to explain, and put my finger on, yet it is very fun to listen to. This will be used for some great action scenes I'm sure. My only gripe, is the vibrato used in the pad at 2:45, I think it would be cooler with a cleaner, straight laced pad at this particular point. Great job sticking to the contest criteria!! 9.5

Jebbal responds:

Hahaha yeah, after hearing a few of my songs you're bound to realize that I like the sound of classic synths with modern FX :) The bass was actually created somewhat by accident. I was having some fun with the 3xOsc, trying to create a funky sounding lead. Then I pitched it way down and decided it would work as a decent grindy/wobbly bass haha.

I'm really glad that my efforts to follow the contest criteria didn't go unnoticed, I really tried hard to keep the variation up for the sake of gameplay, but I didn't want it to sound ridiculous and lose it's flow. The "fun factor" is also something I was going for. I think the constant progression of the song contributes to that.

I actually agree about the vibrato. Not only 2:45, but I think 2:11 could have done with a smoother pad as well. I'm thinking about going in and changing that; we'll see!

Thanks for the review!

P.S. I remember working with you on the light aura collab long ago hahah
