Reviews for "Wind Waker - Laruto's Lament"

Remarkable...

You're truly gifted with your voice! The lyrics are lovely, as is the song. Warm, meaningful and soothing. Keep this up, it's enchanting. 5/5

VGSongbird responds:

Thank You. As long as I get supportive reviews like yours, I will do so for sure ^_^

Astonishing.

The vocals.. the instruments.. they blend so.. perfectly. I am a huge critic of music. And I gotta tell you. This is some of the best work I have seen in such a long time. I'm gonna download this and use it to vibe out. Haha, keep it up. :)

VGSongbird responds:

Lol by all means, vibe out on it! XD

When I heard the original song...

It evoked many emotions from me, and made me feel like Link, like how badly we needed to stop Ganondorf from hurting anyone else, but this made me feel like Laruto. I thought that lyrics would ruin the song, because in the original it spoke for itself, but making the lyrics latin it made more ancient and awesome

VGSongbird responds:

Thank You ^_^ I believe choral works rightfully belong in Latin.
And thanks for listening to my arrangement.

Amazing!

The mood was kept fantastically throughout the piece. Vocals were balanced and well written. Really pushed the emotion of that beautiful melody. A perfect job!!! I will definitely come back for more :)

Thank you! I hope to please in the future! :D

Excellent

Latin chorusing always evokes some emotion. This was a really simple song, but the vocals really, REALLY stood out. You've got an awesome singing voice.

If the vocals translated directly to what you were aiming for, it would've been amazing. Your ideal lyrics have some pull. Unfortunately, I read the direct translation first, and it didn't really conjure up anything for me.

I would say get rid of the direct translations in brackets next to the Latin, and have just the Latin alone and English alone in the description. Knowing the direct translations weakens the song, because it doesn't flow as well.

It's a simple suggestion, but I think it'd make the song better for us ignorant of Latin. Don't worry about the Latin buffs either; they get to feel superior because they know the song doesn't directly translate.

So yeah, just my two cents. Get rid of the translation in brackets. And great job! It's really nice to know people are making such soulful songs.

VGSongbird responds:

Lol Thanks for the info; I put the stuff in the brackets to show the translation I was given so that people that actually know Latin don't talk down to me like I don't at least try to do some research. I know a few key phrases from my years in choir, but there are some that I don't know and have to do my best to find translations for.

But I'm really glad you enjoyed the song and left such a thoughtful review ^_^
