Reviews for "Pop Pirates"

Great game.

Awesome game, however I wished there was some way to pause the game and to save your progress.

its kills time

this is a great time killer i kind of got a lil frustrated at first with slow moving but other than that it was great nice animation and very simple way to go =]

Good

Good job.

Quite decent, although

The repeating music loop was annoying. I suggest either different music choices or a mute button. Not having anyway to skip the bootup-style intro was obnoxious, as was the game just starting without our okay. Lack of instructions or a game manual or some kind was a faux pas on your part as well. I also highly suggest adding in keyboard functionality in the next game; preferably WASD and spacebar. Also, please make the screen larger so you can dodge with a bit more ease, instead of praying you can dodge the dragonfly.

Those are the bad things, the good thing is that this style of game is one that warms the hearts of many old arcade goers. You fly around, blow stuff up, and get cool powerups, and pray you don't die and lose them all. It was also well-executed within the limitations you set, so a good 8/10 for you. The enemies were quite amusing, and seem based off of viruses; the most noticable was the Worm. And I liked the way they powered upAnd since there isn't one in game, I will make a short list of the power-ups and their usefulness here. For a note, All power-ups go to at least 9, probably 10, except for Anti-Virus, which I've only gotten up to 5. The screen was too full near the end so getting hit was unavoidable and I lost my high power-ups. Dang Worms.

Fire-Wall : Sends out fireballs in a cone in front of you. Each level up gives you a wider cone and another fireball. The individual fireballs don't seem to gain any attack power, but you can hit enemies halfway across the screen at high levels, so it works out in the end.

Killer-Watt : High powered lasers that move in a straight line, in between your normal lasers. Gains more power each level and can be quite devestating.

Anti-Virus : Best power-up in the game. An orb starts circling you, dealing damage to enemies and absorbing the corrupted data (the red orbs). Each level up gives you another Anti-Virus and more speed when they are circling you.

Magnatron : The only non-combat power-up, but still quite useful. It drags all music notes to you, the speed is based off of the Magnatron level. Please note that it will not drag power-up to you. You have to grab those yourself.

Mega-Bite : Almost the best power-up in the game, beaten only by Anti-Virus's damage mitigation. This throws out a !!homing!! projectile that looks like a hungry mouth. Each level up of this skill gives the mouth more damage. Nom Nom.

1-Up : Rare early on, a bit more common later, there are 1-Ups. Not terrifyingly useful since in the later game, powerups are the only thing keeping you from immenent death. At high levels, when you lose all of your powerups, unless you are real fast on the mouse, winning is out of reach.

Don't get hit and good luck.

P.S. : Please make your high scroes more secure, the hackers ruin the game for people by putting nigh unobtainable scroes up.

Glad you like it Drahylin. I take all your points of criticism, except the mute button thing because there is one in the bottom right!

Good game but a few simple fixes are needed.

You need to get rid of mouse control and use the keyboard. The problem with mouse control is that sometimes while frantically dodging, you might end up clicking off the screen, all the while getting machine gunned by enemies.

The second thing is of course a pause button.

Other than that, I thought the game was pretty cool.
