Reviews for "Monsters Den: Book of Dread"

An absolute gem!

There is no doubt that when you created this, you knew it would get no less than a 10. I'm surprized that you only received a "Daily 4th Place" award, though, I would have expected TOP PRIZE for this. Absolutely amazing piece of work, no doubt about it.

Of course, like any game, there is the quirks, but they're workable. I don't know if you're able to "find" shops in the dungeons, I haven't yet, and those scrolls are so hard to come by its unreal. I'd really like to be able to BUY those emporium scrolls in te emporium. I mean, it's logical business sense - You want return customers, give them a magical scroll that lets them come back! Ingenius.

As well, being able to equip your party while in the Emporium would also be useful! I don't like how I'm buying equipment to later add to my character, and I want to sell off the useless junk - instead I have to hold onto it until my next visit to the store, taking up inventory slots.

As well, selling and buying is a little slow, needing to click the item then click the "Buy" or "Sell" button. Why not set this up much like the skill selection screen, where you simply double-click it and it moves?

I was also surprized that Strength in the party didn't raise inventory space, but I guess for the mechanics of the game you can only hold 45 spots max.

Notice that all my problems have to do only with the store, really? That's because the actual game itself is magnificent! I've not run across any bugs, everything appears to be beautiful, the music and sound effects fit, the overall feel of the game is just perfect!

I must agree with everyone claiming this is addictive. It very much is! You've got a great game here, I'm surprized you're not selling it. But let's be thankful that you aren't, otherwise, we wouldn't be enjoying this great work!

Keep up the amazing work, Dan! I'm sure we're all thanking you over this game!

garin-dan responds:

Thanks, glad you're enjoying the game.

I can at least address one of your complaints: you can Ctrl-click on items in the store to buy/sell them instantly. (or press Space to buy/sell the currently selected item)

...

its so darn addictive >.<
cant stop playing lol

Nice game except one thing...

I liked this game as well as the previous one, but there is one thing that keeps annoying me. When I accidently run into tough enemies (before getting upgraded weapons) I just can't go back and escape it. I have to fight them which is often absolutely futile, cause they're too strong (imagine having to fight 3d level boss without any 3d level weapons!). So I have to start the game from beginning. Hope you can fix that. Other than that great game.

garin-dan responds:

You can retreat from battle, have a look at the buttons beneath the skill bar.

Pretty Fun

Good way to pass time. couldn't stop playing. Nice work.

My favourite game!

I've been playing the first one since it came out and loved it, this updated version is amazing!!!

If you make another (and you should!) then it would be good if you could take two weapons with you into battle so you could switch between them. Other than that more classes can only make this game even more addictive. Perhaps you could introduce a world map for more freedom, travelling between towns and dungeons with maybe random encounters in between journeys.
