Reviews for "Alien Slayer 3D"

Will play some more...

I haven't finished playing this yet, but from what I've seen so far, I've liked it.

The game looks great, the animations were well done. It's a 3D shooter, and that alone impresses me. It really reminds me of Marathon and the like, which is great because I love those games. But I'm hoping it will get harder because the pistol has a clip of 60 bullets and unlimited ammo, so I'm only really using it. If there's no reason to use the other weapons (especially because of the pistol's EXP bonus) then there is very little reason to have them, other than to look pretty. But as I've said, I haven't played it right through yet, so we shall see.

Aiming mechanism is actually entertaining, but you can upgrade it to the point where it's almost too easy (pistol headshots ftw!). I don't have any huge problems with the controls, but they ARE kind of jumpy. Luckily it isn't too detrimental to gameplay thought, and it almost gives it a vintage feel. There is one thing though; when I play the game in the default view and try to switch weapons with my mouse, it just scrolls the screen. Which sucks, but you have an alternate method and there's not much you can do about the scrolling thing anyway, so I guess I can find no fault in you for that :P

The AI, so far, has been decent. I like how when the enemies are far away, they seem to hide behind walls as they walk toward you, but they do seem pretty dull in general. I think I've been hit once, and that was only due to their initial placement and not their AI. But like I said, not done, so maybe it gets better?

Other than making the aiming crazy easy, I really liked the level up system. It is a good way to keep things from getting stale fast, and a feature a lot of shooters would benefit from. It's also pretty straightforward and easy to use.

I think I hit everything I wanted to comment on...?

Overall, I really enjoyed it. Most games I'll play for a short time just to get a feel for them and review/vote them, but I think I'll actually finish this one. I can't remember if I can edit my reviews, but if I can I'll put some more feedback when I'm done.

Good job!

Lots of fun to play

More of an engine demo than a full fledged game really, but a damn good one. Feels very old-school, wolfenstein-y.

The turning system took a little getting used to, but wasn't that bad after the initial adjustment period. Still, it's tough to react quickly, especially to enemies that get close behind you.

A small bug I thought I'd mention - the gunfire sound effects don't change properly when you switch weapons while holding down the fire button.

Great. Next time give us more gameplay :)

The controls could have been much worse, but what you gave us here is not perfect either...
The cursor movement/turn ratios definitely needs more tweaking. I am finding myself doing much too effort to just turn from side to side, and the "strafe" movement it too minimal, as well.
I wonder now if an old-school keyboard-only approach combined with a high frame rate would make this game more fun to control.

Great job with the graphics . I was amazed to see all kinds of detail like the menus and the bullet impact effects that looked great (I just sat there, shooting at the ceiling)
Also, definitely improve the enemy's A.I even if by a tiny bit... for example make them stop walking towards you and maybe move sideways a little bit, or shoot at you, or just stop in place for a second and scream bloody gore at the player. Shouldn't be hard to implement.
Very impressive engine! this has future! I wonder what it'll be like for 3D genres that have simpler controls.

Great review!
We are still working on this engine and the next game we will make is going to be a lot better..... At least I hope =P

Thanks

Great

Just too repetitive

qigames responds:

Yeah I know
Next one is going to have more stuff in it
Suggestions are always welcome!

Brilliant

This just has to be the greatest game ever and it has great graphics.
