Reviews for "This is UNMEI"

jap-ani-awesomeness!

It disappoints me when people rate stuff with out checking if what your watching is a sequel or not.
Then again, this site is being over-run by the young and immature.
sigh.
Anyway, this was grouse! Funky stereo-typical jap-anime mixed with actual fun and a bit of gore. Whats not to like?!?
Oh i know i'm being a pain in the butt... but next time how about timing actions with beat? Or did you try and it was off a bit?
Example would be the robot transforming to the tune, stomping to the tune, the chick slashing to the tune.... you get the drift.
Appart from that how could you not love this piece :-)

Skaijo responds:

...

I'm not Japanese... -_-

I appreciate the advice and love. You supplied some major tips and some examples to help me improve. Thanks for the constructive critique!

Confusing...

But awesome

Skaijo responds:

Awesome--if I confused the great Kaail then this must be a success.

wow tahts funny

I randomly watched this and then I realized after a bit of browsing your vids, that you know ScottFalco, one of my other favorite artists. I saw Britshmyvoice in credits for another one of your vids then your deviant proved me correct. Nice job, I added you to my favorites.

Skaijo responds:

Indeed, I know ScottFalco whose a brilliant animator. And BMV, whose a brilliant VA. But only give me the honor of a fav if you like what I do, not who we both know.

Great syncing.

Great syncing with the music.
However, I still don't get how the title relates to the animation
This is FATE? Although I'm not sure how fate is related with this, it was still a superb animation.

Skaijo responds:

Good question! Usually when I'm thinking of a project, I daydream the community and backstory to great lengths a few weeks before I actually start drawing. I don't blame you for not knowing the details I thought up and never really fleshed out in the animation.

Essentially, everyone in the animation is called an Unmei, as there not necessarily people. Secondly, UNMEI means Fate, just as much as it means Destiny. If you ever care to check out Don't Trip, you'll see that This Is UNMEI plays off the same storyline set in the original animation, much like it was controlled by fate or destiny. The school that the final showdown occurs is also called Unmei, Men's Academy--to further punctuate the motif.

Aight, then.

You said I should check this out, and I did. I like it! It's got your signature style and the frantic action I like seeing from your stuff.
I don't mean to be a dick, but this still doesn't satisfy my craving for Pick Up: Act 3, though lol. The graphics were great, I love your style. You do ya damn thang like like nobody else on NG, but it was missing something I love about Pick Up: The hilarious conversations where everybody's talking at the same time and interrupting each other. This held me over for the action, but I'm still waiting. I'll be patient though, hehe. Great movie, keep it up, you're on fire this year.

Skaijo responds:

Hm, talking over each other? Hilarious conversations? You may want to check out Metal Gear Yotsuba, an animation around the same time Act 2 came out.

My next project will take place in the community I presented in This is UNMEI--mainly because I still want to work out the skills and gain the experience needed to give Act 3 some justice. The way I have Act 3 planned out--I'll need the practice. It'll be worth the wait. :D

Until then--for funny convos, MGY, might be the animation up your alley.
