Reviews for "The Roslin Station"

needs some work

This is more like a slide show than a game. You could have taken some time to put in a puzzle or two. Just clicking arrows is not exactly fun. The concept it good and the photography is impressive.Your on the right track, just remember the most important part of gaming. FUN!

well

i mean... good background, sounds and everything, but... there is no point its like, arrow, arrow, arrow, arrow, arrow, arrow, done. so its just my opinion when i say this is not interesting or fun, i was thinking i could do something apart from clicking arrows

Tough to review...

Barring the fact that I'm not a LOST fan (I think it's a cool concept, but too ridiculous and poorly written to justify the following), this game is just hard to get into.

To make it more appealing/welcoming to non-LOST fans, you could start with a brief introduction via voice-over or text. Just give us a little background, or, at the very least, help us identify with our character a little bit.

The Photoshopping is... Average. The seams need a little blur, which you could justify by having just been in a plane crash. Also, the composition is very much in the vein of 'WTF?' The sheep spraypainted with the number '23' were a little much, and everything not in the original shots sticks out like a sore thumb. But I can't click them!

Additionally, the navigation is confusing as hell - try to limit it to two, maybe three arrows, or give us clear paths. Otherwise we just click at random, without a clue as to where we should go.

A valiant first effort, Sir, but it's just too much of an homage to LOST for me to really judge fairly. Maybe if I were a fan of the show I'd have been a bit more familiar with what the hell was going on, but as it stands right now, I need more. More storytelling, more background, more introduction. Toss in an interface that... Well, doesn't exist, and I'm as lost as the protagonists of the show.

danomano65 responds:

well. im glad u got the part where it was a homage to LOST... because um (as i have an aneurysm) that's what it is. i'd say it's ur turn to make a flash buddy.

*shrugs*

Unless you're a lost fan, don't bother. I mean, it's an interesting idea, but, there's not a whole lot to it, click around, read some notes, then an unexpected ending. As a non-Lost fan, it just felt cut short. *shrugs* i know you're going for something targetting a group of people, have at it, just warning others who won't understand it away. (ignore the star rating, just a random one because i had to)

danomano65 responds:

not ur thing.

Decent LOST tribute; not much of a game.

Well, I *am* a LOST fan, and the idea of getting to explore part of the island is kind of neat. It's only so-so as a game, however. The navigation arrows are hard to find in some shots, and their positioning makes it difficult in some cases to tell whether an arrow will advance you or take you back to an earlier location. And for a game that seems to consist largely of exploration, punishing players by ending the game instantly for happening upon a particular location seems unnecessarily harsh and off-putting.

I like the photos chosen; the photo-editing is a mixed bag. Some elements seem larger than the apparent perspective suggests they should be, and of course there's different levels of contrast and sharpness to contend with. As has been noted, this is perfectly understandable (and even preferable) for elements that can be clicked on, but distracting for elements that cannot.

Certainly a worthy first effort.
