Good, but not the best
One of two things really need to change on this:
1. Make it where you can move when you swing your sword.
2. Make the sword swing animation shorter.
Some things that would be nice:
1. Be able to level up person and spells.
2. Make the enemies have less health.
3. Have a different penalty for dieing.
4. Perform a y-position check so that your character doesn't get hit be attack that he shold be far enough towards the top of the screen to avoid.
That was OK
Overall, it was some nice concept.
Though I also got killed at Wave 40, I recognized that such type of game is that amazing and attracting that I want to play the whole game, but when I lose near the end, I don't want to play again. Amazing.
Sorry for that, but I had to say that. ;)
The graphics were not that good and that little mob you're playing does low dmg but I can say, that was a great game, one of the better ones in Newgrounds, after all.
I rate it a 8. I have to subtract 2 points because of graphics and no save function.
This game as some kind of "Sandbox" game would be great.

Great concept, a few things might make it more fun:
1. Allow us to slash while moving. I know i know, this would make it a lot easier, but i think it would also make it play more smoothly and add a bit more dynamic to the play.
2. Well, that's about all i could think of... Oh wait, that's right. When we repel the wizard ball things (polymorph and purple balls of minor pain), let them affect enemies they hit. That would be AWESOME, and would give it a 'Link to the Past' feel.

I agree, great concept but ruined by the wait and bait thing... Everything was going great until i got raped by the aforementioned bug... It's way too easy, but difficult in bad ways... The enemies have too much life... So it becomes: use all of your spells (fire wall with holy shield, and fuel with fireball work great) then alternate slashing, and pressing down to dodge his attack, then back up to attack again, all while you wait for spells to recharge... rinse repeat for five minutes.
I'm somewhat pissed... I leveled everything so that I could unlock fire angel, then got rpaed by a bug, and I'm not going back through the entire game. Can someone at least tell me what fire angel does?
It floats above your shooting fireballs out.

You just need to be able to move a little when you are attacking, or at least have the attacks take less time.
