A celebration of Sonic's History!
I serioulsy havent been on Newgrounds in 3 years and someone emailed me a link to this movie since Im a long time obessive Sonic fan. I havent laughed so hard at a Sonic flash in like........well.....ever. Usually its just amature sprite animation ripped from the 2D games, but this was a masterpiece of epic proportions! I was really surprised how current it was with the revealed Shade character for Sonic RPG. Knowing theres going to be a Vol 2. makes me want to soil myself rotton in excitement. The only drawback to it is that since Ive been a fan since 1991, I was disspointed that you didnt reference the SatAM cartoon, Archie Comics, or Sonic Anime.
During the two-way Robotnik call, I was waiting for SatAM Robotnik to call in with his malacious tone but I still enjoyed it.
My suggestions for Vol 2 and Im bewildered why this hasnt been mentioned in the 70 comments:
1. Do another Robotnik phone joke, but this time have SatAM Robotnik involved. I can imagine Aosth Robotnik saying "oh hold on, I have another call" The scene splits into 3 views with all the Robotnks from the Sonic franchise. Comedy gold there.
2. Reference SatAM characters. Princess Sally, Bunnie Rabbot, Antonie, Rotor, and Dulcy. This also applies to Archie cause even in 2008, theyre still central characters.
3. Reference more of the classic 2D Genesis games, or even Saturn. Two crappy games come to mind such as Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast.
Anyway, I realize its alot of information Im dispensing and I hope some of it marinates with you and your fellow animators. Im not sure if youre saving the SatAM/Archie references for Vol 2 already, but including those characters would really satisfy a larger number of older fans like myself. So with that said, this was the best Sonic flash ever produced and I hope you recieve more positive comments. A+++++
