the code works, unlike most of the other tutorials on newgrounds. Thx! Oh, for the guy who wants to make his character in the bottom left hand corner, just move the v-cam so that inside the v-cam, the character is where you want it to be.
Good tutorial
Pros:
-Better than any tutorial I could make
-The tutorial being a platformer is creative
-The water and coin parts of the tutorial helped me quite a bit
-The VCam section was also nicely explained
Cons:
-The biggest problem is that the engine being used is pretty glitchy. Even in the tutorial itself, I can easily climb a wall by going up to it and repeatedly pressing W.
-I had trouble understanding the section about the ground, and I was wondering why I kept falling through the ground I created. It took me quite a bit of searching to find out that I couldn't have more that one instance called 'ground' and had to use a loop to get it to work.
-If you missed something, going all the way to the end of the tutorial was a pain. Having a button on the screen or having a key press take you back would be a lot more convenient.
-Not a huge deal, but there is no mute button, and the song, while it's nice, got annoying after the 500th loop.
This isn't a bad tutorial, I just pointed out the errors I could find that would make the tutorial a lot better if they were fixed.
