Reviews for "Drone Wars"

great

could have done with a quick play feature that puts you one agaist one with the computer rather than against waves, but apart form that fantastic.

One word summary!

Well it's one of the best flash games I;ve ever played, but there's still room for improvement.

First off, the clicking thing. It's very, very difficult to click on the unit you want, especially when said unit is moving or surrounded by friends. It would be nice to see some way of cycling through all the different types of units (You have half the keyboard unused, I'm sure you could find a patch of keys and have one key for each unit type. There are only about 9 or so, and the mothership is already assigned to 0 )

Secondly, game speed. I know this has been mentioned before, and a lot of it is probably down to lag, but a game speed option (A slider from 1-5 maybe) would really make it nicer for people who want to rush through the missions.

Thirdly, and most importantly, enemy AI. They simply don't work fast enough. Creating three worker drones then a control drone then slooowly spitting out the lowest grade fighter (the triangular one, can't remember its name) You can actually destroy an enemy base with only one silo or with two of the second best fighter drones (again, names escape me) What I'd suggest is giving the enemy a better unit creation pattern, say with a greater focus on early economy and a later focus on high grade military production and technologies.

Which brings me onto my last point, one which has no doubt also been mentioned before. Technology research and unit production should NOT be done in the same queue. Make technology research a separate ship which takes a while to create, maybe, or vastly decrease the time taken for techs to be researched (in exchange for extra price, if you feel like balancing it)

Anyway to sum it all up, right now the game feels really good, certainly one of the best strategy flashes ever made, but lacks a polished feel to it. Right now I get the impression the only viable units are the best two military units, and there's no sense that, say, two units of the level below can take on one unit of the level above, despite costing more.

But don't take this criticism badly. They're just suggestions, and even if you leave all these things alone, you'll still have an easy 10/10 game which beats many of the best performances I've seen by miles!

Well done!
