Reviews for "Sand"

Well, it's a start.

I'll give you a six, because you're audio was a little off - I'm not sure what you did, but there is static on every bass beat from where I'm sitting.

The animation is quite basic, but the waves washing over the beach to remove the drawings are a nice idea. What I'd suggest you do now is make it a little longer, maybe a comic strip, called 'sand man', where every break between scenes is performed by the sea washing into a new frame and therefore a different shot of the sand?

You have good skills and I'm sure from listening to your audio that you'll be tenacious enough to improve on this.

^^Good Points^^
A first Flash movie from Jurian, and honestly one that is better than a lot of people's first flash. You have a decent sense of animation, and the style of this was pretty unique as well. I like the water effect in this, that was creative.

^^Needs Improving^^
The length of this was really short. Only about 15 seconds long, so maybe you could make something longer next time.

Effects were decent

Graphics/Animation: 4
I base my graphics and animation scale off of the top flash movies out in the portal, so don't get discouraged if I am giving you a low score. You had a very simple style, but for some reason I actually liked it. There's a lot to be said for simplicity in a flash. Your effects with the sand-drawings being washed away were very well done, especially with the fade of the drawings from the water. The only problem that I had was the drawings in the sand were a little too simple. You definitely could push to make something a lot better and more attractive to your viewers, but just take your time on it. The portal isn't going anywhere and neither are its viewers.

Audio: 5
Not bad audio, the music was calming and went well along with the flash and there's a lot to be said when music can actually suit the flash you are trying to make. It is all about putting the viewer in the mood to watch the movie you are presenting, and your music suits it very well. Nice job here, but just make more actual sound effects and your score will rise significantly.

Originality: 6
The idea of sand washing away memories and drawings has been around a long time, and II have seen something like this before, but I can't quite pinpoint when and where I saw it. But overall this wasn't bad, and I did like the idea and point you were trying to make, so nice job here.

Overall: 5/10
There's no reason to get discouraged here because a 5/10 isn't bad at all for a first flash score, especially when you are basing it off of your audio. I strongly encourage that you keep making flash movies because you have the talent and the skill to become a great flash artist when it comes to serious, meaningful short movies. I'm looking forward to when you come out with your first major flash! Nice work!

Short but has potential

Hi there, congrats on not getting a blam on your first flash. But as you might have noticed (because of the low score) it isn't perfect. Let's sum things up:

Pros:
+ Originality, I think it's a first time animation featuring stuff being drawn in the sand

Cons:
- Short
- Try making the hit area of the button a rectangle instead of just the text
- Try adding sound fx

Overall:
This isn't a bad flash as first flash, yet it needs improvement. Try adding sound fx and make it longer

Okay

Well first I'd like to say work on the buttons, the text was a little annoying to click, so work on that for one. Another thing I have to say is that this idea was pretty nice but the wave moving in to erase the drawing is kind of still, maybe use something that has some animation to it. I also thought this was a little too short, would have been good to see something longer.

The animations themself where okay, not too clear but they seemed to work on the sand background though maybe have some dust blowing randomly at parts too. Keep experimenting :)
