even if we were to overlook the complete ignorance of the author regarding religion and abrahamic faiths in general

I think it's important to take into consideration the meaning of this game as it represents the religious divides and wars fought as well as the end result of those religious conflicts being a destroyed world. The message of the game is clearly that if one religion kills of another it will only lead to bloodshed.
Control is horrible, Still a pretty fun concept, Its missing alot of religions including the ones from the sequel.

Sadly this is discontinued.
I'm more offended by how much of a terrible fighter this is than what they did to the religious figures, honestly this game's main selling point is the whole choose your own religion and fight others and sorry that's just not enough.
