Freaking Gross. Seriously. Gross.
I mean seriously, that has got to be the third grossest thing I have seen in a long, long, LONG time. Overall the story-line itself was interesting, and the message you portrayed was meaningful - that is, the sort-of forgotten veteran during christmas time.
I find myself questioning your use of blood, gore, and especially worms. The same message could have been portrayed in a much more meaningful, and much less grotesque way. Instead of a skull, he could've hugged a photo of his platoon, instead of worms he could have hacked up bile. Most everything else could be kept the same. The snow collecting on him was a nice touch, especially when combined with the all the happy other people yonder.
Your technical aspects were perfectly fine. The music especially fits with the ambiance you portrayed. The artwork was crisp, well drawn, and well rendered. The blood effects - that although in my opinion are completely overdone - were well made as well. Everything was well-synced and in time. You could add pause or fast-forward buttons, though, in an animation that is this short that might be uncalled for.
In the end... Yeah, it was gross. But as far as the sort of dark, gross, horrible animations are concerned this one wasn't that bad. Perhaps it was because you had a story. Perhaps it was because you used quality art elements, and not pure abject gore. Heck, perhaps I am just in the christmas spirit. Perhaps my abject hatred of this genre will return the day after tomorrow. I think though, that if it does, this particular animation will remain an outlier, in that I actually like it.
