Reviews for "Marching in the Moonlight"

Different.

Have you ever played Elebits? Because this music is VERY similar to the style that that game used. And for the record, I freaking loved the music in Elebits. Very funky, yet relaxing. Good job.

Not bad

Clearly way out of my genre of music so I'm not going to criticize or praise this piece, but I feel the need to leave a comment. I thought it sounded decent enough, maybe not what I would have voted for #1 on the site, but I wouldn't say it is bad either, as others have said below me. However, you need to back off with all the hate comments on people who didn't like your song, it makes you sound like a brat. Of course I'm sure you will reply to this with a sarcastic, likely hateful comment because I wrote this review, just like you do for everyone that doesn't have the same mindset as you, and that is quite okay, because I welcome it.

From a Composer's standpoint.

I feel you did alright with this piece the form was laid out pretty well. The beats are great, but from a composer's standpoint of my own and the style that you've written it in... it kind of lacks a little. It may be the sequencer? Perhaps if you used a nice sampler with a good sound library you'd have better sounding saxophones. It'd help a lot. But I think a big part is this

I feel the piece is lacking a little in "soul" it seems to be going for that whole "I'm gonna write a funky thing" and it lacks in originality. The same melody the whole time kind of gets repetitive, perhaps an addition of dynamics to the piece will make it a lot more fluid. Dynamics will give it a lot more life, soul, and musicality. For instance, at 3:04-3:25 a crescendo would fit in great and the syncopated brass lines could swell up. The ending is nice, but having the strings swell some would give it more depth as well as elongating the final note a whole measure or a ritardando to give the piece some cadence.

Overall, I think it's an alright piece and I hope you won't stop from here. This piece has a whole lot of potential and perhaps remixing it with a sampler with a few good sounds will change the whole thing around completely and REALLY it might perhaps be worthy of being the "#1 all time" on the newgrounds audio portal. But aside from that, I think that unless you don't do a repost with some significant changes to this piece stylistically (as I said earlier, adding dynamics, adding some variation chordally, and a few fluctuations in tempo) then you'll have something real good here!

Hope my advice and positive criticism was of help to you. I tutor a lot of the beginning composers at the University I go to and you're right up there, keep it up!

Fluctuations in tempo? Really? I mean... really? Wait... really?

Thanks for taking the time to write this review! I appreciate it.

Pretty decent

I'd say you did a good job with the composition, the movements pace itself without pressuring itself to have a change for the sake of a change, iow, everything transitioned well to other parts. What didn't make the song so boring for me was the drum and bass sections. I like the main riff when it's a string instrument not a horn instrument, the horn doesn't sit well with the song, becomes tedious too fast. Other than that everything is good.

well not the best really!

this really does not deserve to be number one. It was kinda nice to listen to, but that is all it has :( sorry if it's harsh, this just does not sound that good to me. but it's only me.
